#ignis' plot

Nearly eleven o’ clock.  The boys were likely in bed by now, and even if they weren’t, it was too late for any sort of Birthday celebration.  She’d half expected them to come into her office at some point in the day; why, though, she wasn’t exactly sure.  Things were still rough with Ventus after she’d told him about Gin, and Terra had probably spent the day working on his own paperwork or fending off Bai.

Taking her glasses off, the queen stood and put her desk back in order before switching off her lamp.  She watched the wax inside rise for a moment before it fell, though it was no longer lit.  With a shake of her head, she turned toward the doors to her chamber, ready to turn in early.  She was nowhere near finished with the contracts and treaties that were her current concern, but she didn’t feel quite up to finishing them at the moment.

As Ignis opened the door, she stepped inside and heaved another sigh, looking around as she flicked on the lights.  No surprise party.  No decorations.  Just her bed and the same curtains she’d had for years.  She hadn’t even seen her boys all day.

She all but dragged herself to her dresser to change before trudging to her bed, but paused when she noted three cards on the mattress, accompanied by a box of her favorite fudge.

‘Not just for holidays,’ was scrawled in flowing script on the cellophane wrapping the box.  She smiled softly.  She’d have to thank Aurelia for that later.  The first two cards were from Terra and Ventus, the latter being signed by Kyan as well.

She picked up the last card and looked it over, raising an eyebrow.  As she opened it, she noted the semi-familiar handwriting, but it she couldn’t place just where she’d seen it or whose it was.

It’s been a whle, hasn’t it?  I’ve missed you.  I know you probably won’t know who this is from, but let’s just say I’ve known you for a long time, but we haven’t talked for most of it.
