Adult Iris/Ignis is a ship that had never crossed my head before and that now I apparently ship strongly and ITāS ALL YOUR FAULT, GODDAMMIT.
I mean, just read at what you wrote! Wouldnāt that be one of the most beautiful things ever!?Ā
We know that Ignis and Iris always had a good relationship; that they got along when they were younger, and both had Noctis as common ground. And they grew up to just continue getting along. Ignis describes her asĀ ākindā. In-game, he brings a conversation about her himself.
So the fact that they always got along and saw each other in a positive and nice way, thatās absolutely canon.Ā
And in Comrades, when Iris cooks, sometimes she says something aboutĀ āhaving good teachersā, and we know dear Ignis is brilliant in the kitchen. So there are great chances he was one of those teachers she had.
And Iris is always strongly defending Ignis when the guys are driving her to Caem! Even as to chide Gladio for not helping him in the kitchen, and talking about taking a break so Ignis can rest from driving.
Basically, all their relationship and the way they treat each other is super cute!

Iris complains that Cor wonāt let her go to the battlefield during World of Ruin, so she stays behind in Lestallum, sewing and making clothes for the Glaives and hunters. And, when thereās ocassion that any of the chocobros visit, she attends to them.Ā
Ignis included. Heck, maybe Ignis in the first place; Gladio is her bro and Prommy is cute, but they handle everything just fine. But Ignis? Ignis is just starting to re-learn the world, blind as he is.
So one day, Iris asks him if heās thinking about retaking cooking too. Maybe, Ignis said. But he would require some help. Iris, because sheās a good bean, comes up with the idea;āHey! I know! I want to learn to cook, so what about I help you in the kitchen? That way, as you re-learn, I start learning with you.ā
Ignis smiles. Say thanks, and thatās exactly what they do, and both start spending days together learning how to cook; she hands him the stuff he needs, he starts sniffling to learn to difference by smell, but requires of her in the meanwhile; she reads the recipes for him, helps him with the things that require of a pair of eyes, and he teaches her as he re-learns too.
And when Cor did let her go to the battlefield?Ā
She would most times team up with Gladio and/or Cor, as none would allow it otherwise. But as she grew and became stronger and more independent, sometimes she would come across other hunters, or Glaives, or Ignis.Ā
And when she stumbled upon Ignis, she helped him and he helped her; both complementing each other on the strength the other lacked, already in synchrony by something as trivial as having become a team in the kitchen; sheās the eyes where Ignis canāt see, and heās the ears where Iris canāt hear. She helps him train, holds the punchbag while encouraging and cheering on him, he teaches her how to throw a dagger, how to handle the lance, and while teaching her, he re-learns.
And they go through the years teacher each other to cook and fight, not to count the quiet good times of talking, or walking together, or just sitting there in silence, sharing a moment of peace.
And when she starts escorting him and Talcott?

Ignis was waiting forIris to return from a hunt before they would be continuing on their way back toLestallum when Prompto had arrived to do a job for Ms. Cindy. The two decidedto do a little catching up before they went their own ways once again.Apparently Prompto had seen Iris on one of her past hunts and had made a verybold claim that had Ignis raising his eyebrows.

The blond couldnāt help but laugh and scratch the back ofhis head. āWellā¦ā Any attempt to hold back his excitement was lost. āDude, haveyou seen-ā He stopped mid-sentence and groaned. āOkay well you canāt SEE but cāmon,you have to know just how awesome she is! Sheās this 5ā6ā little thing thatswings a great sword almost as big as she is without breaking a sweat and cantake down daemons Ā by herself that teams ofHunters have problems with. Sheās even taken down an Iron Giant by herself! AnIron Giant, Iggy!!ā

Unable to argue those points Ignis could only nod his head and smiled as the sound ofrumbling engines and excited cries signaled the return of the hunters. He couldhear his wifeās enthusiastic voice above the others. Getting up he headedoutside to welcome his loveās safe return.

Makes the bed in the mornings?Itās usually Iris since Ignis has to be up and out way before her and he wants her to rest as long as she can.
Has sole possession of the TV remote?Surprisingly Ignis. Since if Iris has it sheāll have them watching reality TV
Stays up until 2am reading?Both! If itās a good book, Iris just canāt put it down and Iggy is usually still up pouring over reports and making a brief for Noct to read the next day.
Is the bigger cuddler? You would think itās Iris but itās actually Ignis. He loves nothing more than to have her against him, snuggled up on the sofa and stroking her hair.
Does the laundry?Ignis. There was an incident once where Iris accidentally threw in a red shirt with Iggyās whites and wellā¦never again.
Mows the lawn?Iris! Ignis insists that they can afford a lawn care company to come and do it but she loves being out in the air and playing in the dirt.
Is better at budgeting?Iris. Theyāre both pretty frugal but Iris is the queen of couponing and saves them major Gil by shopping around and finding the best deals!
