I was privileged to have chaired the 2nd Meeting of the Dynamic Coalition on #SmallIsland Developing States (#SIDS) in the #InternetEconomy at the recent 2019 @unitednations #InternetGovernance Forum (#IGF2019) in #Berlin #Germany. Although this #IGF may have been the largest ever in terms of onsite participation, despite the best efforts of the @bmwi_bund including @peteraltm & @dorobaer many countries from the developing world, specifically SIDS, were highly underrepresented. We do hope this will not be the case with #IGF2020 which will be held from November 2-6 2020 in #Katowice #Poland. With remote support from my co-Coordinator, @Maureenhilyard, who unfortunately was not able to make it to Berlin, members of the DC-SIDS presented reports from the #Pacific and #Caribbean regions and welcomed updates and supportive messages from colleagues from the #Maldives, #Vanuatu, #Barbados, #Jamaica, #Australia, #Japan, #TrinidadandTobago and the #Philippines, among others. We were also able to identify initiative leads and accompanying teams as well as work on the next steps in finalizing our Action Plan. Looking forward to seeing the fruits of our labour over the next 6-12 months.
