My most romantic project. Ten years ago Helin said let's travel from your home to my home slowly.. In the summer of 2010 we hitchhiked from Berlin to Istanbul through the Balkans. Of course, I took my camera and Helin prepared a script for a series of interviews. We took five weeks and interviewed with more than 50 people on the road. We portrayed most of our drivers and the people we met on the streets. We shot about 50 hours of footage and uploaded some raw bits of those interviews at that time but right now we are writing the text for a longer documentary film. We watched the rough cut of the edit and are planning to finish it by the end of 2020. Ten years later.. . In the first photo you can see us having breakfast with our truck driver Nurettin in the truck queue 3 km to the the Turkish border Edirne. On our "table" you see the food from the seven countries we passed through. The other photos show us and some of the people who had been so kind to take us some kilometers along our way. . Helin and I knew each other a bit more than a half year at that time. Today we are married and have two kids. . The journey is it's own reward! .
