âYeah, I remember the drill.â

"You're aware that you broke the nose of one of your colleagues."
Melinda May walks up to Clint, as he's sitting on the edge of the foam mattress he's just been sparring with Brock Rumlow on. The bastard knew exactly which buttons to push on Clint and how to get him to snap, and that's exactly what had happened.
And now, Rumlow was in the infirmary with a broken nose.
"And a broken shoulder," Clint adds.
Melinda frowns. "That's not what I heard-"
"They just haven't figured it out yet, I heard it snap," Clint says, wiping his nose on the back of his hand. Rumlow had gotten a couple of good hits in too, but he was heavier, less agile than Clint. Some perks were good to have from having worked in the circus for many years.
Melinda's face remains impassible. "You realize that this means you'll have to do paperwork, Barton."
"Yeah, I remember the drill," he replies, leaning his head backwards. "I just- he's such an ass."
Melinda crosses her arms, as she walks up to him. "He is. But so will many more people in our line of work, and you can't break everyone's noses or arms or other legs when they piss you off. You only do that when it's justified. Otherwise, you'll get discharged."
Clint smiles at her, sheepishly. "Don't want that, now, do we?" he says and she smiles, a very shy smile, but a smile nonetheless. She extends her hand to him.
"Come on, let's go get you cleaned up." He takes her hand, makes it to his feet and wipes his nose again. There's still sweat pearling across his forehead. "Rumlow is an ass," she says, softly, so only he can hear it. He looks at her, as if to make sure he heard her correctly. She nods, imperceptibly, then starts walking.
"Let's go get you some paperwork to fill out."
