It’s 2025 and the last thing I need in my life is a book with a not at all interesting political subplot, but I read this book anyway because of that cover (which reminded me of covers of ye olden days of the 70’s and 80’s which made my heart ❤️)

I was hoping for more magic and world building and due to the lack of these plus the insta-love aspect to the MC’s, I had a difficult time connecting to the characters or being able to invest in the plot.
