Day 7 - Peculiar

Nahilvi beams a smile at Dice while he talks about having a camp Pilgrim’s Bounty dinner, it was more for his excitement than the thought of the dinner. Usually she and her stepfather, Iren, had teamed up on the meal for the family. It was a lovely night that they opened to the nurses and their families, just thinking about it made her a little melancholy, not sad really but the empty feeling that centered in her belly, a peculiar feeling she really is not used to at all. 

His announcement was creating so much buzz in the camp that she can’t help being pulled along on the emotional wave, listening to so many talk about friends and family they wanted to invite. Nahi’s public face was way too good to allow any of her lonely thoughts to dim the smile, she was really happy for everyone’s excitement anyway so it was easy to hold onto. 

Leaving all the excitement she walks towards the command tent, she doesn’t really have anyone she would invite, and after the week she had with her family the thought was bordering on painful. She is already feeling the pressure of the people around her and their joy, maybe it would be best to see if there is something away from the celebration to be of help. 

Nahi is not the only one with the same idea, individuals were heading to talk to the commander so she chose waiting for the best time for her to speak to Talon. A pattern emerges before her, one that was not favorable to her plan, the older company members were given a place on guard duty, newer members were being told to take the day. 

Seeing Naralinthe moving from nearby, she well and truly realizes she would not find an easy way to just excuse herself into some other duty. The Lioness might allow Nahi to find a reason to keep herself from the celebration but what came with seeing her was that if she didn’t attend, the performer would be letting some of the people she is closest with to see that she is not as alright as she was trying to show. 

Just keep moving, the advice Naralinthe had told her the other day, this time she is going to take it in a literal way. Leaving her place near the command tent she walks over to where Dice is chatting with the camp chef. When he finishes she steps in close, “Hi, what can I help with?”

HAPPY PRIDE!

This past month as been both difficult and exhilarating.  As a rule, I struggle with law, not following laws, but understand legal terminology. I just can’t seem to wrap my head around legal briefs, court decisions and such.  I always struggled when I was a broadcast journalist and had to read through legal documents for a news story.  For this reason, I was more than a little concerned on how well I would be able to follow everything in this class this month.  

 It was, by no means, easy. I struggled with almost every assignment and worried each week as I awaited my grade.  What I learned was that I may struggle with understanding what I am reading, but I really did understand it in the end and was able to do very well with my assignments.

 I really enjoyed the assignment that had us filing a sample copyright request.  Although, compared to a lot of the assignments, it was easy, that isn’t why I enjoyed it, I enjoyed it because it provided the opportunity to experience something I will probably need to use in my future career in marketing and PR.  

 It is difficult to say which of the topics covered will be most useful to me in my career as I truly believe they will all be equally as useful.  It is so important to understand what you can and can’t do legally, but even more important is providing proper representation for the clients who hire you. I really believe that when an individual or company hires ad Public Relations firm, they expect that firm to know what is legal and what isn’t and protect them from not only making mistakes themselves but to protect them from damage from others.  

 This course gave me the necessary knowledge and resources to ensure that I can be proactive in avoiding legal mistakes.  It is always better to error on the side of caution then defend your actions in a courtroom.  Having the road map laid out for me this month will be extremely helpful in ensuring I make the right moves and avoid mistakes.
