Should you register for a Hawaii Beach wedding
Many brides wonder, “Should I register for my wedding gifts?” Some of them may feel a little funny actually coming out and asking for specific gifts from their family and friends. Others may be overwhelmed at the idea of doing yet another wedding related task. Let’s talk about some of the pro’s and con’s for registering for your wedding.
Pro: Guests really want to get you what you want, so registering means they will know gift ideas. Giving your guests a gift register means that they can go to the store and print up the gift registry and get an idea of what you would like as a couple. If you as a couple have not lived together before, then you may be starting your life out in a new home together. You will probably need a lot of new things like dishes, linens and small appliances.
Con: Some couples have been known to register only for expensive gifts or only at a store far away – making their registry useless to guests. When you register for $150 place settings, guests may gasp and have difficulty giving you the gifts you are choosing. Keep in mind that a wedding registry is not an opportunity to ask for the most expensive gifts, it is a time to ask for things you want and need. If you would like an espresso machine – look for one that is reasonably priced so your guests will be likely to purchase it. Also be sure to register at stores in areas close to your guests or that offer online shopping.

Pro: You don’t have to just register for dishes, linens and toasters. Couples can register for their honeymoon or even sporting equipment if they so choose. Many different stores now offer the option of registries. Just as there are many different couples available, there are many different wedding registries. Choose the store and type of registry that would please you the most.
Con: When couples have been living together for years – they may just not need “things.” This is becoming more and more the case as couples live together for years before they marry and are getting married older. These couples are more established and don’t “need” the guests help in getting their home established, they already have a home that is established. These couples may choose to ask their guests to donate to a charity in their name. Giving to a charity is a meaningful thing and can have a great impact. As you can see – wedding registries are still a “hot topic.” We are sure you’ll make the best decision when it comes to your own
