Honestly I think Bad Batch is doing what Star Wars does best. Giving us a promising premise, executing it disastrously, and thus giving us an open field to play in and fix everything.
Am I enjoying Bad Batch overall, yeah.
Do I like Omega, yes.
Do I like Omega being white, no.
Do I like Omega being white and then called a ‘direct and apparently unaltered’ clone of Jango, the same way Boba is, something that makes no sense at all, also no.
Do I like the idea of a young clone isolated for their genetic abnormality (be that gender or something else (I really wanted them to have been trying to make Omega and afab clones in secret and her being the only successful one)) and experimented on, only to escape with a group of other clones that were experimented on by the evil Kaminoans and are now trying to navigate a post war dystopia as the Empire rises, their other siblings enslaved and needing to be freed, working with the rebellion and surviving and all of that… hell yeah. That’s a brilliant premise.
We haven’t had anything live action or animated set right from the end of RTOS up until it’s been a good 10ish years. We see pre Enpire, and entrenched Empire, but little in between. It’s a fascinating and underused time period with a lot of potential, the brainwashed clones, the first resistance forming, the Imperial control as the war ends and people slowly realising somethings wrong as their power grows, all of that. It has sooo much potential and yeah a group of rogue clones are a great idea for people to follow through that time period.
But hey, that’s what we’re for. Fan artists, fan writers, let’s do what we do best and fix things. (And keep asking for better from the official creators too.)
