so part of mushroom & dynamite's deal in the earlier episodes is that they rarely ever encountered anybody else, right. most middle ring objects are gone or assimilated and parasites avoid mushroom like wildfire which is why Rooted, Demo Day and Try Again were always kind of weird to me. it has been seemingly established that parasites will not approach at all if mushroom is present. they have never attempted to assimilate dynamite and never once appeared in middle ring episodes. in Playing Hooky they cower in a corner in terror even though dynamite is right there. they were /that/ scared. a few dozen episodes later parasites outright chase him around while barely avoiding mushroom. part of the plot in Demo Day and Try Again is that the parasites are willing to have a stand-off against mycelium if there's a chance they'll kill/assimilate dynamite, and mushroom dies in Try Again due to one just barely missing its strike. why'd their attitudes change so much? is this an adaptation in progress, akin to the way some primitive parasites have shroud mutations (those included)? are they more aggressive when defending a hivecore? some other reason?

my interpretation is mostly parasites communicating through hivecores!

we know that parasites can and do learn and become smarter over time, and can remember previous encounters of other parasites via hivecores. we see both citrus and wagyu pointing this out to the audience as well as wagyu accessing memories from other parasites, presumably via hivecores since that's also how he communicates with ID_SYMBIOTE in the episode as above:

(coincidentally, the last image appears to be from the viewpoint of an ID_SHROUD instance, or at least one with very similar limbs and spines!)

and of course ID_SHROUD relies on this to lure victims, since it mimics voices other parasites have heard:

(fun fact, the only lines of dialogue spoken by ID_SHROUD in hide and seek that don't come from a previous episode are "stupid fucking machines", which is most likely ID_SYMBIOTE herself, and the repeated "help! no! stop! get away!" which is pretty generic speech to repeat while dying)

my takeaway here is that the shroud that killed mushroom originally broadcasted her death to other nearby parasites (or maybe ALL parasites via hivecores!), which lead to them learning she's vulnerable to certain parasite adaptations and can also be reborn as spore. note how the primitive brush parasite ignores mushroom and goes straight for dynamite at first, but then stops to think about which one to target before deciding on targeting dynamite, which we know via the alt. text:

Dynamite asks, Mushroom, should I run? Mushroom says, I, I don't know! What if it chases you? Text says aim as the assimilated object tries to aim its stinger at Dynamite.

despite the fact that it hit mushroom by accident, if this theory is true, it would already know that mushroom can't be assimilated but can still be killed, in a sense- mushroom turning into spore would make her much easier to kill, or would at least give an opportunity for the parasite to assimilate dynamite before circling back to her, so it's kind of a net positive for it either way. plus, we DO know that parasites will simply attempt to kill anything that can't be assimilated, which would technically apply to mushroom as well!
