Icystar: She’s definitely proud of how far TallClan has come (118 years)! And she hopes that they will continue to stand for the next 100 years! I will say, however, she’s disappointed in the actions of some of the leaders and sees them as stains in her legacy, but there’s some I imagine she’s proud of.

Sapflow: Almost similar thoughts as Icystar! Sapflow cares a lot about the clan’s well-being, not only as the founder, but also the fact that majority of the clan currently in-game is biologically descended from him. So, he feels very paternal over them. He especially enjoys looking over the clan’s youngest generations. He wishes some would’ve made better choices, however…

Mulberrystripe: While Mulberrystripe does not have any biological descendants in the clan’s current in-game era, she’s proud of the role she had in the clan’s founding and enjoys to see her teachings still going strong among the clan’s healers.

Bluegale: I can’t say a lot about Bluegale, because of spoilers that will be hugely relevant to the plot, but all I’ll let you know is that she doesn’t care about the clan’s current goings and wishes things could’ve gone differently…. You’ll understand why whenever we get there….

Daydream: Daydream is kinda neutral? She’s happy to see how far the clan has come, but that’s about it! She doesn’t hold a lot of emotional attachment, even though it was her home leading up to her final days.

Marigoldflip + Bonebracken: Two of the clan’s youngest founders to die 😭! I wish the RNG didn’t take them too soon! While they’re happy for the clan’s current state, they wish they could’ve done something more and wonder how that would’ve changed the future. Would they have had descendants in the clan’s current era? Would they have been eternally remembered for something great other than being misfortune founders?

Scrubpelt: Oh, this man absolutely does not care about how the clan’s doing! I imagine he dipped out to another after-life. He would’ve only cared if he left behind some legacy that’s still relevant in the clan. (Fun fact: If he had died much more later, I probably would’ve made Hawthorn’s dad lol but he died prior to her conception).

I saw this challenge and I knew I had to do it with Sapflow immediately 😭 I’m so glad I was able to settle with his current design or else we would’ve been stuck with gruff, old man Sapflow.

🎭 - Most of what I had in mind was answered in CULTURE and LEAD POSITIONS, but here are some that I have thought of since then!

Leader Titles - Leaders receive special titles after their deaths, which usually pertain to their character throughout their leadership. Here’s an example from my first attempt at doing the dynasty challenge! These titles aren’t just restricted to leaders. Lead Healers and Lead Mediators receive similar titles and on rare occasions, a notable warrior will receive a title.

Celebrations of a Leader’s Life + The Clan’s Founding Anniversary - Considering how important leaders are to the clan, their lives and what they contribute are celebrated on the anniversary of their deaths underneath the stars. In Icystar’s case, by some sheer luck of coincidence, her death fell on the anniversary of the clan’s founding! So, along with her celebrating her life, the clan’s anniversary is also celebrated!

Cave paintings - While I was still brainstorming certain cultures and traditions for the clan, the original burial place was catacombs in which graves were marked with paintings to identify the cat that was buried there. Even though that isn’t the original plan anymore, I still like the idea about the paintings! Now, paintings are used to record historical events, lessons, maps, battle plans, and important figures. A leader, Lead Mediator, and Lead Healer will always leave behind their own paw print in their respective dens. Warriors and apprentices do something similar on the days of their ceremonies with warriors in particular leaving a mark on the camp entrance on the night of their vigil. These paintings are also used to keep track of family trees, but it might become a bit muddled after several generations.

Icystar never took her elderly great-great-something-uncle, Shadowdusk, to be the sentimental type. Well, at least not towards a butterfly of all things. So, that’s why she’s taken by surprise when he shows interest in the injured butterfly that had the misfortune of landing in their camp in the middle of fall one day. Scrubpelt was about to stomp the poor thing, end it out of its misery, before Shadowdusk stepped in, snapping at him with his sharp tongue for being a “sorry excuse of a warrior”.

Since then, Shadowdusk has kept the butterfly close to him in the elders’ den, caring for it until it began to show signs of healing. Whenever he needed assistance or wanted someone to look after the tiny creature while he went out, Icystar was always the one who he would call upon. Aside from watching over it, she had very little paw in caring for the butterfly during that time, with being a leader and all, so that’s why it surprised her when Shadowdusk asked her and no one else to accompany him as he set forth to let the butterfly, now fully healed from whatever ailment it had, free.

Icystar was only telling half of the truth at that time. While she was worried about the winter that awaited them, to be completely honest, she and Sapflow have had their focuses set on other things lately…

One material that Mulberrystripe likes to line the nests of her patients is feathers from a red cardinal. It’s a bit of a messy process with some of the feathers always getting entangled in her tail. After several “feather preening” sessions, she decides it’s best to just leave them there. Besides, they make for a pretty pelt accessory.
