My BROTP for them: I wish I could say Chad because he’s “oficially” Ichigo’s best friend, but, in all honesty, Rukia has been a fantastic friend to him, if anything, as well as Renji.

My OTP for them: ICHIRUKI. Forever and always 

My second choice pairing for them: I guess Grimmichi, but I’m still rooting for Ichiruki to be endgame

My fluffy pairing for them: Again, ichiruki, since I think the pairing has the potential to be anything.

My angsty pairing for them: ICHIISHI FUCK YOU ISHIDA FOR THAT BETRAYAL

My favorite poly ship for them: Ichirenruki, but I also love the idea of them plus the ryokas

My weirdest pairing for them: I don’t think I have any for Ichigo??

Yeah I’m going with the flow now, when I first started Bleach I was so worried about understanding EVERYTHING. Now I’m more relaxed, bc I know a bunch of things just don’t make sense sometimes or will make sense later, but I know I’ll eventually go back and try to understand everything again.

Btw I still have faith in Kubo’s narrative skills. I still think everything will have an explanation someday, which is why I also think that Bleach still has two years more to go, at least.

The Sword is Me chapter both of them are shown alongside him. He had accepted both of them as being a part of his powers and thus as being him himself. So while having dual wield may not necessarily you have two spirits it is a possibility. I cld be wrong tho

Ahh I think I understand better now. So both the woman and the girl are Katen Kyokotsu, and the girl was the one hiding Nanao’s sword. Now I wonder who/what is Okyou? The girl?

As for why kubo didnt just make them friends Im not entirely sure but it cld be cuz he figure since it was sooo long ago and SS was already pretty rigid and old fashioned (before ichigo changed tht) tht Male/female friendships were looked down upon or something??? Or maybe he just thought making them in-laws wld give them a stronger connection to each other than just making them friends *shrugs a lot*

At this point I think any theory is as good as the next tbh. We only know that Nanao’s mother married Kyoraku’s brother, who died, and then she had a daughter and gave the zanpakutoh to Kyoraku to avoid the curse. Whatever happens in-between is anyone’s guess at this point, I think.

It just seems REALLY pointless to me to make Nee-san and Shunsui in laws for Nanao and him not to be related. Like, if nee-san remarried I think Shunsui would have said something about it (or rather, Kubo would make that clear, since otherwise it’s logical to assume that his brother is Nanao’s father). Then again the timeline is fucked up and we don’t know much about how shinigami age…

I think, if Kubo wanted them to be closer than just friends, he could have made them be distant cousins or something, or even make Nee-san part of the eight squad. But yeah you’re right about the male/female friendship being looked down upon by the SS.
