Melt
Climate change. It is something that is happening. We can’t stop it, we can’t prevent it. It’s happening. All around us. Temperatures are increasing and they are affecting the world we live in. The ice caps are melting, the ground in the North is shifting, the currents in the ocean are being affected, corals are dying, animals are being left stranded because the ice they live on is melting away, materials we use are becoming inefficient due to the temperature they are being placed in. The world around us is changing. If temperatures continue to rise and the rate that they are rising increases.. will we survive? Will we be able to cope? Will the ground in Alaska still exist? Will the polar bears in the arctic still have a home? Will our oceans be swimmable? Will they still have coral? What will the Earth look like when temperatures reach an all time high?
The word melting: it has a lot of power and affect when put in reference to climate change. It is a large part of what climate change is. The rising temperatures are causing ice shelves and ice caps to melt, which is then affecting the oceans and currents which is then affecting fish, and migration patterns and the ocean food chain which affects our fishing habits and affects the lands we live on. The word itself is strong and scary, it is funny and laughable, it is descriptive and definable but it is a word we need to concentrate on.
Melting is what I want to focus on. The idea of materials melting. How long can certain things survive? How hot does it need to get before we can no longer survive? How long can our houses survive? At what temperature will our clothes become unusable? At what temperature will things start to melt?
