Origin of Elsa’s power (Theory)
Here is an edited screenshot of mine of the book where King Agdar (Elsa’s father) consulted about where to take Anna to heal her. The two pictures of the pages shown are combined here, and I took the traslation from a blog called “Panya’s blog: Linguistic aspects”.
The story says, time ago, an ancestor of the King was hit accidentally by ice power from some “nature force”, and got healed by the trolls. The intentions of Agdar were clear: “if the trolls healed an icy magic wound before, they can do it again” But, as well it happened with Anna, on the ancestor there was a remaining magic of ice inside him. Time passed and that magic was on the blood of Agdar’s line, which he passed to Elsa. Did that make her born with powers? I don’t think so. Or else somebody else would have born with powers too. So why Elsa?
The key lies on the mother, Idun.
If we take the word of this girl being Idun, then the actitude she appears to have with the wind power is really interesting. One thing we know for sure, Idun left that land to be with Agdar. So if she has a relationship with the wind, then, or else the wind blessed her journey with magic, or felt betrayed and hit her with magic, in any case, she got some of the wind magic inside her before she left the land.
So, a father with icy magic remains and a mother with wind magic remains inside her. Ice + wind= guess what.
