It felt like a million years since he’d seen Ian. He felt awful, he’d told Ian that he’d stop with the coke but he couldn’t. He’d slipped up so many times, he’d burned the red scarf that he always wore, even in the blistering sunlight. Now he just had a way-too-large sweatshirt on and had the hood pulled up so that his face couldn’t be seen unless at very close distance. When he reached Ian’s place, he felt like throwing up, like turning on his heels and bolting. But he willed himself to knock on the door, tears in his eyes.
