We had a huge setback with Halla in the evening yesterday.. she acted as if she wanted to lay and we put her in a box for some time but she didn’t lay.. she presses and presses but nothing comes out, even poo only in small amounts.. I suspect she has a broken or soft shelled egg inside which she can’t get out.. we tried to reach a vet in the evening but everyone we got on the phone just said they don’t know anything about chickens and they couldn’t help us.. not even the veterinary clinics.. we tried every tip from the web, gave her warm baths and tried to put oil up her cloaca, nothing helps.. she is weak from pressing and doesn’t want to eat much, only very small amounts.. drinking she does only when you dip her beak into it.. it hurts me to see her suffering and knowing that I can’t get to our vet with her until tomorrow morning.. I don’t know how I can help her otherwise..
