what do you use to stream music? i'm trying to move away from spotify
okay so the complete lil intro vert guide to no longer needing a streaming service: aka listening to whatever the fuck you want when you want, can be boiled down to a few apps and programs
ibroadcast: to hold all your pirated music in a cloud that u can listen to anywhere anytime for free without needing it all downloaded on ur phone
soulseek: for finding niche shit not on streaming or that you want in high quality
deemix: for pirating new releases that are only on streaming or getting whole discogs at the click of a button. 128kbps only if u care abt that. apparently there's a revival of it now but i have been using the old internet archive one https://archive.org/details/deemix still works and i hate change!
bandcampdownloader: for downloading from bandcamp for free (it gets the lyrics too which i really appreciate!)
lucida.to: for getting stuff from soundcloud and amazon music
soggfy: for if something is ONLY on spotify and nowhere else
yt2mp3 is a last resort for me, if something is absolutely nowhere but youtube and after that i try to split the tracks out in audacity. this is kind of more than a few programs but it is all you need to build up your library back to how it was. i believe you can transfer playlists to deezer and then download them from deemix if u care abt that.
as for FINDING niche shit, vk aka russian facebook is a goldmine for lots of niche japanese metalcore/melodic hardcore. don't ask me why! soundcloud has a lot of metalcore that's nowhere else too. there's also the mp3.com archive and lostmyspace.com. metalarea has some reallyyyy niche black and death metal you can make an acc for free and then download. internet archive duh for a lot of myspace stuff. a lot of guides for things can be found on https://fmhy.net/ sometimes there is a telegram bot that can rip from apple music sometimes i can't find one so hopefully nothing u like is exclusive to that. i ripped from a chinese streaming site called netease once don't ask me how cause i don't remember how to make that github exe work. make sure to google band name -album name blogspot and to read comments of yt videos in case someone has a download link. soundclick also has some random really rare stuff. i think that covers it? github is your friend freemediaheckyeah is your friend.
rambling over i'm a couple beers deep and this is one of my special interests. i love preserving music i love piracy i love archiving i love ripping tapes and cds and records to share with others. we will always have hashtag music <3 please reply or reblog or dm or anything if you have questions! it doesn't matter if a band isn't on spotify you can be free from that self induced prison!!!!!!!!!!!!
