holy shit!!!!!!!!! I was trying to find an example of a "vacuum capstan" (apparently a pair of perforated capstans that used pressure differences to 'grab' and 'release' the tape for greater contact area) and stumbled across this instead! an attempt at vaccuum COLUMNS (different thing) built from scratch!
I do have to say that the "explanation" spliced in from curiousmark is really, really bad and should be skipped tbh. i can understand why it was cited, because there's so little footage online, and even less with audible commentary, but still...
