Day 2
My CAS coordinator spoke to us today... we got a CAS diary booklet which contains all the forms for our supervisors and stuff, but my friend and I are really unhappy about the layout for the proposal and and other forms. We were wondering if we would be allowed to retype and make our own booklet, or at least the forms because it really hurts our eyes. Well, we'll ask the CAS coordinator tomorrow.
Anyways, even though today was our first day for CAS, I've already got alot of CAS activities that I have to fill a proposal form for...
1. Yearbook (Creativity) - I'm the Art Director apparently (or Art and Design Head, but I prefer the first because it sounds cooler), although I will be involved in layouting and stuff. My job expands into all the other art stuff as well.
2. Bake Sale Poster Making (Creativity+Service)- My class is organising a bake sale and we've split into groups for different things; the publicity group that directs the posters, the finance team, the baking team, the sellers and the mangers.
3. CAS Board (Creativity) - A bunch of us are going to be working on the CAS board... Frequently updating it on a weekly, or on a monthly basis..
4. The university counselling board (Creativity) - which is for the Grade 12 students, and we'll have to decorate again. I suppose I will have to combine both.
5. Photo Exhibition Poster Making (Creativity) - Once again poster making, for our classmates who are hardcore photographers - who are planning on setting up an exhibition.
As you can see, I have a lot of creativity activities so far, and I should go look for more Action and Service activities... but come on, I'm not athletic (I don't enjoy sports - much) and it's extremely difficult to find avenues for service. My school is taking us to hospitals to volunteer, but due to some really dislikable classmate in charge of this activity, my name was conveniently the only name that was not put in because she forgot, despite the fact that I had specially requested my name to go in. She put in the names of all the other girls in my class except me. I've never done anything to her, and I've tried my best to like her, but she never ever gives me that avenue. And after this, I'm not even going to try. I was extremely excited about it, and when she told me my name was not on the list, I was so... heartbroken. :c
I went to speak to my CAS coordinator, but she said she'll have to ask the lady at the hospital if she could fit in an extra person. So I'll have to wait and see. Fingers crossed it works out.
Besides that, I had my first Hindi SL class, but she was only explaining the assessment criteria.
Our next class was economics, but she spent most of the class explaining the assessment criteria as well, so we had like, half an hour of class, where she started on the foundations of economics. She could only cover Scarcity, and Economics as a social science.
After that was my first Visual Art class, where we first went through our plans for the exhibition, which is to showcase the school's first IGCSE art course's students works... After that, my teacher began explaining the course.. and it looks AWESOME because we have the freedom to do anything... and he is giving us that freedom. Of course, he will help us and guide us and discuss everything with us, but he said he'll leave everything up to us.
Heh. :)
Following that, in math we started in Functions and Relations.
We had the CAS hour free for once, because this is only our first week.
All in all, it was busy, with me going on rollercoaster of emotions: excitement, boredom, happiness, disappointment, hurt, anger, hope.... I guess there'll be more days like this ahead...
Happy tumbling guys,
Good night.
