Carmen had heard enough "Merry Christmas'" to last her whole life and longer.Â

The tireless part was buying plane tickets to California for an extended weekend, and then leaving at 8 P.M. on Christmas Eve so that she could arrive back in New York in time for work the next morning. Because she had the most fucked up schedule on the planet and Jesus Christ held a grudge against her for saying fuck you in church one time.Â
When she arrived back in the city at 4 A.M., Carmen figured it was pointless to go home and try and get some sleep. She had to be in the ring by 6 to prepare for media sessions, because some loser thought it would be an excellent idea to have a boxing special on Christmas day. No one watches fucking boxing on Christmas, she thought to herself. If anyone I know watches boxing on Christmas I'm deleting them from my life immediately.Â
Carmen barely had any trouble finding an eating establishment that was open at this time of night. It was New York, after all -- the sun could explode and there would still be plenty of stores with open signs flashing on their windows. Carm slid into a small diner that advertised their coffee with "our beans are meant for queens!". She thought it was the cutest, silliest thing, so she ordered 2 large lattes and a muffin and slid happily into a booth near the window. It felt like the first time she'd sat down in hours. With a blissful smile, Carmen picked up a newspaper and started scanning through it, chewing her muffin thoughtfully.Â
"I really don't care if we share the taxi, but move it before he looks out the window. It's a sidewalk, not a sidestand."
