I'm honestly quite new to writing Johnlock as well. I've been betaing for a few brilliant people for a while and I just sorta took the plunge.
Feels -- funny things, those are. I have this thing where I honestly can't be made sad by my own angst or turned on by my own smut. It's like tickling myself; doesn't work. I need other people to let me know. So my best advice for writing is read, read, read and discuss, discuss, discuss. Practice your craft and get others' feedback. By just reaching out and talking to people via AO3 and Tumblr, I've made really lovely friends who are invaluable to my process.Ā
