I was that good kid in that mad city, had my rhymes in my bag with me, lowkey, suckerfree, small circle my guys with me, walked around roamed the Woods, 10th park where the hoopers stood, we didn't know that we were in danger, but in our minds man life was good, use to hoop like everyday, my backyard was like the NBA, we had hoop dreams, coop dreams, don't nobody tell me what to do dreams, just a young dude trying to find his way, mom passed at an early age, I was so confused about life, thought I could see, but I was so blind, my living conditions, were poverty stricken, surrounded by drugs and the neighborhood killings, churches and limos, were hursting the victims, the cops never ask us if we knew who had did it, But we wasnt gonna tell if we knew anyway cuz the snitches get stitches, around where I lay, thats why were careful and watched we say, you talk then you missing and found in a lake, I lost a couple friends, couple of enemies, where I begin, John was shot killed in front of my face, He didnt live to see his kid, same stories repeated again and again, im grateful to live, and share my experience, God protecting me from all the ignorance, Lord help all the people that are still in it. -IM GRATEFUL #ThelightSource #hiphop #chh #iamjgriff
