This was a personal piece for me, because I struggle a lot with my body and how I look. I’m very muscular and fit (which I like). I work out and eat well. I am not overweight. But, even at my healthiest and least overweight I’m still not naturally skinny, and I’ve always wanted to be skinny. I’m also androgynous, but that’s really REALLY hard when you’re curvy af.

So many times “body positivity” online is idealized, but sometimes we need to just take a look at who we ACTUALLY are, including what we like and what we don’t like. Especially for trans people, it’s sometimes super hard to accept the state your body is in at this very moment, even if you’re planning to change it in the future.

I drew this picture of my actual body type as a way to stare it straight in the face and say “This is me. This is just how I look right now, and that is fine.”

I encourage you, if you’re a fanartist or just an artist, to try it. 1) Draw how you ACTUALLY look and not how you wish you’d look or how you are planning to look. 2) Don’t stop there: make it beautiful. Add wings or flowers or whatever you love. Draw fanart of yourself, because you’re beautiful. 3) Say a couple things that you like about yourself.
