   he’s pretty sure it was raining. hell, toby thinks he can even remember the sounds of thunder from trying to pay all his attention to the weather outside than to the friend with him. the sound of thunderstorms were more successful at seizing his attention than the reasons why he’s getting set up on a blind date.

something about never leaving the house and barely showering, but toby was far more interested when the conversation turned to money, and how toby has none so here’s ₩120000, go buy yourself something that doesn’t have a drawstring.

and sure, he could've used that money on anything other than a monkey suit for his date—it’s been a while since he’s had a dinner that wasn’t made by either himself or a fast food employee. but he did what he was told and picked up a nice pair of pants and shoes that didn’t need the laces tied in a bow.

as for a fitted shirt, well, it would be wrong of him to think that funerals weren’t a total loss.

however, the scariest part of it all is the fact that his friend ( and by now toby uses that term very loosely ) refused to show him a picture of the person he was getting set up with. nothing more than, “don’t worry, they’re cute and new in town. don’t fuck this up.” it was only natural for toby to be a little suspicious.

so he gets to the predetermined location early, prepared but not too eager, nervous on the verge of paranoia. but it only takes a few minutes for toby to debate over whether he should drink, whether he should even stay at all, and why he’s friends with someone who thinks he’s practically an old man before he’s even twenty-one.
