Lois took solace in the fact that there were a few people like her around the mansion—people who weren’t heroes or vigilantes, but instead more normal, more like the average person beyond those four walls. She hated feeling so out of place this whole time, so she was glad to be able to rely on Iris for some sort of reprieve from all of the dramatics that came along with having powers. She held her glass in one hand and swirled the amber liquid at the bottom lightly. “—so, I got back from Afghanistan and I almost immediately got catapulted back here,” she finished. She shrugged once. “That’s the long and short of it, at least.”
