#i'm... so happy

Continuation of this vent piece I did in the midst of last night’s breakdown/crisis

So.. it’s taken me a while, but I’ve realised that, since I can’t change who I am, I need to start changing the way I think, even if it’s little by little. For starters, I do not need the validation of men to have self-worth. I do not need to give them what I perceive as the “norm” in a relationship, especially when it makes me uncomfortable. I do not need to force myself to be okay with the idea of it.

Being asexual can be hard to come to terms with, especially when you’re also looking for a relationship, but I’ve learnt that I do not owe anybody anything, and if someone can’t take me for who I am, then I don’t need them in my life. Even if I’m not, or cannot be, “enough” for them; I need to be enough for myself first.
