Oh also, gotta talk about this a bit: spoilers on hz119.
Just like Arven did, Kieran and the rest of Blueberry elite 4 got silent cameos today, which is just further proof to me that Horizons is meant as a side-along story to main game story, and it won't spoil the main plotlines to the audience. It is very different approach to earlier seasons, but I like it. That way, there's no worse version of Arven between anime and game lol.
Would have been nice to see them more involved I guess, but their stories are complete. There's not really much they can add to Horizons story I guess?
It's really fun to me that Dot having Amethio's dad's contact info is a sentence that is true.
Hell yeah, it's about damn time.
Is Rising Again gonna be the finale arc after all then...
We're getting back-to-back evolutions episodes, which to me implies rushed evolution eps to get everyone maxed out for the finale ðŸ«
A bit worried about that, but as a theme, next ep looks fun and interesting. But the pacing is a bit odd rn.

I'm assuming the episode on the 28th, which we know is when Drayton asks Roy to rematch him after Roy decides to hustle out of Blueberry Academy, is when Roy's Crocalor will evolve into Skeledirge.
Thinking about it, pitting Roy against Drayton of all people and giving him a direct personal relationship with Drayton, and having a battle with him be the moment when Crocalor finally becomes Skeledirge, is a good idea, and works really well.
Ever since the timeskip Roy has been on a hustle and bustle mindset really. He seems deep down to be in a rush, like he must get strong every moment, he must keep pushing, and he must keep moving forward and never stop.
Meanwhile Drayton is someone who is undeniably a very talented battler (he's one of BB's Elite Four!) but has a reputation for being lazy. He's very go-with-the-flow and easygoing and tends to just take things in stride. He's already tried to encourage Roy to take things slower and stop hustling, which he seems to have tried to take literally, but that's definitely building up to something. Not to mention Crocalor's egg has started glowing in the recent episodes, which means that egg is about to hatch, and the bird that Skeledirge has on its head is about to be born.
Skeledirge being the result of the upcoming rematch would be fitting because Skeledirge is powerful, but its personality is also really chill. Even moreso than Crocalor, Skeledirge is a very gentle and easygoing Pokemon who has a soothing singing voice that calms all who hear it. The entire Fuecoco line is a bit easygoing, but Fuecoco and Crocalor are designed as somewhat clumsy and dim-witted, while Skeledirge is wiser but more laid back and reserved, only using its immense power when it needs to but otherwise being an easygoing and friendly beast.
For Skeledirge to happen after battling Drayton, the guy who takes it easy and goes with the flow, is a fitting point. Roy's previous direct opponent in an academy setting was with Ryme, a Ghost-type specialist (hey, Skeledirge is a Ghost-type!) and a rapper, who helped Roy realized why he loved singing, and how he and Fuecoco bonded over singing because it helps them connect with each other and others, which led to Fuecoco becoming Crocalor at the end of the Tera Training arc. Now here we are post-timeskip where Roy has been in a hustle mindset after the Friede fallout, and he's pitted against the easygoing guy.
Skeledirge would be an embodiment of Roy truly taking in what Drayton can teach him, because it would be representative of Roy truly being a strong Trainer, but also learning to slow it down some and let things go at their natural pace. Which is something he does need to be able to do right now.
Thoughts on the upcoming ep.
Summary is here.
