Hi, I'm sorry this isn't really a culture-is-question, but I thought you would have a good answer for my question if it's okay to ask here. So i have hypoandrogenism (I was tested and all and have pretty damn low T) and I've been on testosterone for about two years. But I haven't noticed that drastic of changes. For perisex trans men, it seems like they've had even more drastic changes on T than I have! I have barely any facial hair (although I do have some) and my voice went from soprano to tenor when I'd like to be a baritone, and my body is still really curvy which I hate. I also have gynecomastia and my breasts haven't shrunk at all. So I was thinking, is it possible instead of hypoandrogenism that I actually have maybe a partial androgen insensitivity disorder or something like that? Because I also have a bit of an ambiguous genitals situation going on (micropenis. Please for the love of god don't think i'm pathetic or something for it. And more but i dont wanna get into detail) and I heard some people with PAIS also have that. It would explain why T doesn't do as much for me as it does for perisex trans men. I just feel kinda hopeless right now and "trusting the process" isn't getting me anywhere and I feel so less-than perisex trans men who can get all this awesome stuff that I can't. I'm really not good at being patient. (I'm testing out he/him pronouns now so please refer to me with those if you refer to me)
TL;DR: Yeah it's possible. I don't really have any other comments about that specifically, especially considering I don't have surrounding information that might influence what I conclude. I do have definite comments for some other parts of this ask though, which I'm preferring to go through in list form.
- Unfortunately, testosterone HRT does not shrink breast tissue. If a doctor told you it does, they're straight up lying to you? They might atrophy and become a little easier to squish down and flatten in comparison to an estrogen-dominant body, but they won't get smaller.
- You can have both hypoandrogenism and Partial Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (PAIS) simultaneously. They aren't mutually exclusive!
- I'm seriously concerned for you and what you've been told and likely internalized about micropenises, if you're concerned I might think you're "pathetic" for it.
- Indeed PAIS is the medical label for folks who have AIS with ambiguous genitalia (Mild AIS is for folks with (perisex-typical) penoscrotal genitalia, Complete AIS for vulvovaginal genitalia); and micropenis along with maaany other traits including but not limited to hypospadias, persistent urogenital sinus, cryptorchidism, bifid scrotum, (posterior) labial fusion, congenital chordee, penoscrotal transposition, and the presence/absence of labioscrotal rugae, would often catagorize genitalia as ambiguous. You may alternatively find info on labioscrotal rugae as "labial scrotalization" since the deep folds are expected only to be found on scrotums, but I could imagine un(der)developed rugae on penoscrotal-appearing genitals would indicate Something?
