Blue eyes tried to stare at the other, completely unfocused from where he laid in bed. Bill didn’t like doing nothing, he didn’t like being stuck in bed and he didn’t like being sick. The last time he’d even admitted to being sick his brother had died and since then Bill refused. Even when it was plain to everyone else, he insisted on pushing through.

It wasn’t like he didn’t want this—he did. He’d wanted it for so goddamn long. But Richie Tozier wasn’t...good at this kind of stuff. Emotional shit wasn’t his forté. It was much easier to make a joke, immediately regret it, and then try to compensate for it.

Which is exactly what he did now.

“Dude...that’s fuckin’ gay.”

An embarrassed smile tugs at his lips and he nervously lifts his glasses up the bridge of his nose. But that smile doesn’t last. His hand drops to his lap, shoulders slump forward, and his eyes fall to the floor. “Come on, Eds, don’t...” Shaking his head, he felt the threatening hot sting of tears. “What’s...what’s gonna happen when all of this Pennywise bullshit is over? What’s gonna happen if...if one of us doesn’t make it out..?” He reached up to run a hand through his hair. “I don’t want to know that you love me, because...because I love you, too. But saying that makes it real.” He paused briefly, grabbing his glasses by the leg of the frame to take them off, rubbing the heel of his hand against his right eye.

Bill didn’t bother to hide the fact that he was rolling his eyes at the other boy in exasperation. “Y-you know w-w-what? Y-you duh-do it if y-you’re just gonna be an c-c-complete asshole ab–about the whole thuh-thing.” He was done trying to please him. A feat that was clearly impossible to accomplish today. “A-are you going to t-tell me w-what’s muh-made you s-so–so pissy tuh-today?”
