"Wow," Rohan gasped, reaching up to hold both his Nani's ears between his index fingers and thumbs. "You have pointy ears, too!" The only other person he'd seen with ears like these was Thomas. Then again, it made sense-- kids got all sorts of things from their parents, even if Thomas looked way more like Nana in comparison. "You should get earrings, Nani," he said sagely, tugging lightly at the points of them. "You'd look really, really pretty."

Quill smiled at Rohan's realization. He supposed his grandson ( as far as he was concerned ) had never seen them ; Quill kept his hair long for just that reason. The vampire leaned forward more, elbows resting comfortably on his knees.

❝You think so, baby ?❞ he replied, laughing softly. ❝That you have to tell your Nana. Maybe the two of you can pick some out for Nani to try.❞ Quill's voice lowered. ❝Let me tell you a secret, Rohan. I gave your Nana his pointy ears — and all of your aunts and uncles theirs. Even if you can't see it on them right away, I promise they are there.❞

The Shepard matriarch was very aware of the chaos he had potentially created for their next family celebration. Nevertheless, he grinned, flashing his fangs good - naturedly at Rohan. ❝Of course, you know I also gave your ...❞ Quill faltered on how to refer to his son. ❝... your Thomas his.❞
