In the books Armand forever looking like a cherubi 17 year old is quite jarring. Add to that the fact Book Daniel is like 20yo in iwtv and their relationship is around 12 years , so when he is turned by Armand he's about 31 yo.

So if you wanted to portray that with actors, well.... I mean it's probably doable, but there's a certain specific kind of discomfort that comes with the younger actor (even if they wouldn't be that young) portraying all that comes with devil's minion and Armand's story on screen.

(Mind you, I know that in the history of cinema actors as young as 20 have been in scenes more extreme that what we saw in 2x05 of iwtv. Doesn't mean this should be something that is chosen to be done if there is another option for the character's age)

And this is why I think walking away from that (and the can of worms it could have been for the production) and making the actors age gap still jarring but less of a problem is so briliant.

Because there is definitely a reason

Examples:

This entire scene. We have both openness about their attraction to each other but also The Lestat Of It All. So maybe Armand is both vulnerable and careful? Maybe that's what the costume tries to highlight?

And then of course - the conversation with Madeleine about her becoming a vampire. Turning a human is a sore subject to Armand and Madeleine (the incredible person that she is!) manages to disarm his arguments quite beautifully here, which I think leaves Armand a bit exposed. Is there a link here?

And then, which is very interesting imo:

Feeding time with Malik in Dubai + coming home after and realizing Louis and Daniel remember San Francisco.

Hm. fascinating, right?

I don't entirely know what this is, really. This post is just me meandering about with my thoughts on the costume department choices.

Like, why the turtleneck, why in these particular scenes?

I find it interesting, given the emphasis they made on the element of exposed throat in most of Armand's other costumes. Putting him in something that does exactly the opposite and covers his neck.... to me that has to be a meaningful choice.

And then Louis goes and tells this to his Maker - Lestat:

But Armand does not know about this moment, about a Fledgling thanking his Master for the Dark Gift.

And still he makes one.

And probably still believes he will hate him for it, that it is impossible for him not to.

Armand is so so neurodivergent holy shit

Why did Armand not delete Louis from Daniel's brain at Divisadero? Hiding the vampire nature from a reporter was something he'd want, knowing Armand, so... why did he leave that?

Why didn't Armand delete Daniel from Louis mind, if he did delete the fact Louis went into the sun? Why not delete the whole night altogether?

Did he really try to convince Louis to not do the interview again?

Going absolutely feral thinking about Younger Daniel and Armand walking together through the streets of Paris, hand in hand, Daniel smiling because he feels freer holding his lover's hand in public in this city. Armand smiling softly because he can read Daniel's thoughts about it.

We also get a look at the different "feeding rituals" they have - Armand makes people beg/agree for him to kill them, Lestat enjoys humiliating his victims, Louis prefers consenting humans (or just eats them in a fit of rage XD Our babygirl still needs to find himself, its ok XD)

So I've been wondering: What's Daniel's thing?

All we get at the end of s2 is Daniel following after this man:

We don't get to know why exactly Daniel picks him, what he reads in this thoughts perhaps.

But then at the end of his conversation with Louis, we hear him call out to this man and he says this:

So does this means he literally just chose him cause he wanted his headphones? 😂 I doubt it, with 10 million in his bank account, he can buy himself whatever he wants.
