I need smiles and hugs...
So, yeah, where to start?
Today, I just got a talk with some of my co-workers about something: an investigation about verbal abuse. From what they said, someone must've posted something on facebook (and that's all the details I got) and I'm the prime suspect, so it seems. So while the investigation is going on, I'm suspended from work until further notice (my boss/person who talked to me calls me in, etc.) and there are 3 possible outcomes: 1-it is deemed...some...word, that I'm drawing a blank on, and no action is taken, everything is hunky-dory, and the days I was suspended will be paid. 2-disciplinary action, which probably means I'll get scolded and have to retake some courses again before I get to work again. or 3-termination of my employment, which is BAD! Even though most times I know I'm gonna lose an argument because, well, that's just how my life is, but that was because no one really tried to help me out in my case; well, they are this time, but I still feel nauseous...
See, I work for activities at a Manor Care, which is like a nursing home, so I work with elderly people. Sounds like no big deal right? Well, no; imagine you're a baby-sitter, except the kids you're looking after are much older than you and have way more rights than you do, among other things. These people aren't who they used to be. Some of them were very intelligent people, but age and other things have lead to declines in many, so memory, emotions, and other things aren't at their optimal functionality...much like me (I've even said it's like trying to take care of a bunch of me's, only they're older). And since they have more rights, things tend to weigh in their favor. Even if they can't hear properly or remember it fully. They have rights, and one of them is "freedom from verbal abuse."
I'll admit; I sometimes don't recognize the tone of my voice when I talk to people, and I've had others say that I talk to them in a snotty/nasty tone (when I do catch myself, I immediately apologize and say it in the proper tone), but the thing is, I'm not that verbally abusive. I don't LIKE having to raise my voice at people (even when they're hard of hearing...) and I don't lash with my tongue at people in an abusive way. The only time I lashed at people with my tongue was in Elementary school because some kid was being a real prick to me. I'll also admit that I was already slightly irritated that day the facebook post was made due to some issues earlier that morning in the dementia unit, but I was basically back to square 1 with my emotions by the time I guess the post mentioned something.
I don't feel very confident about my case, if what I gave could even count as one, I'm nervous, I need this job to pay for insurance, I feel like a mess. Tbh, I'm not sure why I even put this up; I guess to try to calm my nerves down a bit? Either way, if anything, someone smile for me, please. A little smile goes a long way for me, and it always makes me feel better.
