↳ @hybridafterdark asked: A warm shower had been just what the hybrid needed that night as he walked out into the bedroom ahead of his husband. He raised his arms above his head and stretched. Playful as ever, he took the long way to crawl into bed. A pause with one knee on the mattress, bent forward with a glance over his shoulder, and tail shifting for just the right view. "Wanna help me stay warm all night?"

{➹} – AN EXTRA PASS of making sure his quills were dry meant the hero nearly missed the way his partner sashayed to the bed. Almost, but not quite. He, naturally, had a hard time not watching after that stretch, and the oh-so-subtle position after made him raise a brow.

"All night, huh?"

He certainly did a good job of feigning consideration, but the look in bright green eyes was far too telling. Still, it would have been hard to anticipate the hero's next move. Having closed the space between them in a, literal, blink of an eye, there was no hesitation in the way the hero pressed their bodies together, his front to his partner's back as the back of the hybrid's neck was peppered with kisses. All before there was a soft purr in the hybrid's ear.

A small, involuntary yelp leaves the canine, completely dragged from whatever thought he was having. Any respons he had to Volt's little stunt is disolved by the kiss, though he still gets a little huff for his trouble.

Looking up at his boyfriend with flicked back ears, the light evidence of heat on his muzzle was clear as day this close, as was the pout on his lips. Though nothing about his body language said he was truly upset, just flustered. His arms cross over his chest.

     {➹} – EXACTLY THE REACTION he had been hoping for. A tad sudden on the hero's part, maybe, but it wasn't as if the hybrid had complained. The book may not have fared the best but it was a manageable sacrifice.

He feigned thought for a moment, though hardly made a real move to get away as he looked down at his partner. There was no hiding the playfulness in his voice nonetheless. "That was actually my exact plan. Unless you want me t' stay, of course. Can't imagine you'll be acting out any sort of revenge if I do."

A lie if there ever was one.

Moments after seeing Arrow look away, the hand not holding the hero’s was used to lift his chin so their eyes could meet. Because he needed his partner to see his expression. See the love shining in the amethyst eyes as he answered the question with the same amount of honesty as he had been. “No, I’m not. We express ourselves in different ways and I’ve always understood that…” A pause. “You know you don’t have to be perfect around me. I love you just the way you are.”

     {➹} – TRY AS HE DID the hero couldn't stop his gaze from meeting his partner's once prompted. For all the love and devotion that was in Volt's eyes, the hedgehog's had doubt and uncertainty, almost enough to eclipse the adoration that was usually so prominent in those emeralds. Almost. All of this had stemmed from somewhere after all, and it was because he loved the hybrid so much that he was so upset. 

     His expression was still crestfallen but there was the spark of something when his question was answered, even as he continued to look unconvinced. Though not for the reason Volt may have expected.

     "But you deserve perfect..." Mumbled as the statement was there was still conviction in the words, that guilt substantial as the hero took a breath. It was released shakily, and he would have been content to stay there in silence but his mind, it seemed, had other plans.

↳ @hybridafterdark asked: The sudden cold snap left a certain hybrid frowning at the chill in the air. No gardening for the couple tonight after the kids had gone to bed. Not that he couldn't improvise with something else as he quickly snuck up on his partner. He slipped his arms around the slender waist, resting his chin on a tan shoulder only after leaving a kiss. The soft rumble of a purr rose in his throat, the hybrid's body heat hopefully helping stave off any chill in the house. But... "Ya know... I could think o' a few ways we can make sure ya stay warm all night~" He grinned, eyes shimmering in playful mischief. Fingers trailed the hero's stomach until they landed on blue hips.

{➹} – THE CHILL MEANT that the hero had opted to stay inside for most of the day, cozied up with a cup of tea and one all too familiar sweater. One last little taste of the cold before summer rounded the corner, not that he minded. It had hardly affected the day. Not the morning, nor afternoon, nor evening as they saw the kids to bed.

He had only just finished some of the cleanup from dinner in the kitchen when the hybrid approached. There was no denying the heat the other was giving off, more than enough to make the hero comfy, but that wasn't what really caught his attention. Those fingers had all of that, even as the hedgehog chuckled. A low, soft sound.

"Hmm, like the fireplace? Or a cup of tea? Possibilities are endless, really." A tease. Volt really shouldn't have expected much more than that from his partner. But, what was the saying now?

↳ @hybridafterdark asked: One thing the hybrid always appreciated was just how warm the bathroom was, even before they had turned on the shower. It made it that much easier to settle in behind his partner while they were looking in the mirror. Sure they had seen him coming, could see the playful look in his eyes as one hand slipped up the tan chest and the other snuck itself between the hero’s legs. The rumble in his throat grew louder as his lips parted, nibbling a shoulder. All before whispering against his husband’s neck. “Might as well make the shower worth it..”

{➹} – IT WAS FAR easier to get distracted by his partner than himself, especially watching the hybrid's form appear behind him. Whatever the hedgehog may have been looking at quickly shifted, with a grin no less, the moment he saw the other's eyes. A look even Arrow knew well by that point.

More reason he didn't shirk away from either hand, despite the shiver at the touch to his chest and something else entirely at the one between blue thighs. Yeah, he was pretty sure he knew where this was going, and let out a low chuckle of his own.

"Pretty sure last time we went about this route it was you having all the fun," he quipped, their last time in the shower, at least last time they did more than shower, had been the hybrid making sure the hedgehog was relaxed, amongst other things. Perhaps it was time to reverse roles a little.

↳ @familylightfox asked: The last few days had felt like a bit of a blur. But the hybrid had at least come inside to lounge himself on the couch, even though his larger frame partially hung off it. Darkened eyes followed his partner around the room for a time before reaching out and dragging him over for some nuzzles and licks. First to a cheek, then a shoulder, followed by his neck. Lips parted to draw the skin into his mouth where he lightly nibbled and sucked.

He knew the hickey wouldn’t last, but that wouldn’t stop him from leaving them.

{➹} – THERE WAS A GOOD amount of amusement on the hero's part seeing the hybrid sat like that, but as much as he wanted to poke some fun the hedgehog had a few other things to see to. Like a bit of clean up and making sure other things around the house were alright. Just because the last few days had been off from their norm didn't mean housework could stop for too long.

Having been idly humming as he did so, there was more of a squeak than anything as he was pulled in the opposite direction he had been heading and into the pile of fur. It was enough to make him chuckle, but the licks and nuzzled certainly helped turn it into a full blown laugh, then a sultry purr as lips found his neck. True, the mark wouldn't last long but sometimes Arrow swore that only made his partner more determined at times.

↳ @hybridafterdark asked: If asked later, Volt would blame it on the change of season. But who knows if it was really the case. The hybrid’s arms slipped around his husband’s middle and drew him back into the soft off white chest fur. A deep rumbling filled the quiet of the room as his lips parted and tongue slid along the hero’s neck. He followed with a playful nibble and rubbed their quills together while pressing their bodies that much closer. That much easier to feel the heat and throb of slick girth between blue thighs. “Mine~”

{➹} – THE HERO WAS getting ready for bed, which really only entailed him taking off the minimal clothing he wore and a shower if he felt the need. But it did mean that he wasn't paying attention to what his partner was doing as he slipped off his scarf and put it neatly in its proper place. Just in time for familiar arms to pull him back against an equally familiar chest.

And he would have known that extra heat anywhere, though at the moment was torn between humor and flattery as he felt it, and his partner's mouth make themselves very known. It was hard to tell which made the hedgehog shiver, but it did nothing to hide the cocky look he shot back at the hybrid.

That one word threatened to do him in alone.
