Miss Fortune Part 1
The Silver Circle will not be the only cult Elizabeth Fortune was involved in. She does not know she is Vietnamese. She does not remember how she ended up on that compound. She remembers that her “parents” were always changing, and eventually she was made to watch the only other kid who looked different. Her new little brother, Frederick, became the only solid thing in her life.
She got very good at getting people to tell her things indirectly. Without them realizing how much they’d revealed. But the more she used this to her advantage the harder it was to stay under the radar.
One of The Enlightened saw how useful this clever girl could be and began teaching her to read at 15.
By 17 she has access to one of only two computers there. She was serving her community by blackmailing sheriffs and journalists in nearby towns who seemed intent on investigating them. She was also planning her escape route.
She tried to convince Freddy to come with her as she left. but he snitched. She doesn’t hold it against him. She knows she’d have done the same when she was 12.
