ABOUT

— their father disappears when he is only 2 years old, with a baby brother newly born. as expected, their mother has a lot on her plate; trying to take care of two boys and juggling work at the same time. however, eunsoo still has a happy childhood, even if he has many more responsibilities than his peers, he doesn’t mind.

— grows very protective over his family, especially his younger brother, eojin (ie. dongguk), and tries to help his mom as much as he can. from a young age, soo has an untreated adhd / hyperactivity disorder he deals with. 

— he has troubles with concentration and sitting still, but not wanting to cause more problems to his family than they already have, he directs that towards sports. he is a very good soccer player, plays whenever he can. as he gets older, he begins picking up any part time jobs he can juggle with his high school studies. 

— as he nears the age to go to a college, he has no idea what he wants to do with his life; thinks maybe he can get into a subpar university with a sports scholarship, but he isn’t sure if he should simply get a proper job instead — since their family needs that a lot more. 

— however, the answer comes to him instead when he gets an offer to join hwarang’s training program, having been noticed during one of his sports matches. it offers a lot more than what he can do by himself, so of course, he agrees to join training when he is eighteen. it takes him a bit longer than three years to graduate as a field agent, but he is over the moon when he officially becomes one of them.

— personality wise, he is very energetic, hectic and worrisome. wants to get things done quick, and he is very talkative, almost annoyingly so. it’s a good thing that he has a lot of stamina; since he can get things done with only a few hours of sleep, as long as he doesn’t crash. on the other end, he sometimes has problems concentrating still, especially when he has something else on his mind. however, luckily enough, he is very mission oriented, wants to make good work within the agency, so he works hard, as hard as he can to get the results he wants.

PLOT IDEAS

— training partners: this would be around 9-6 years ago, could be friends, could be rivalry, or maybe they didn’t get along well at all.

— partners in crime: people he works well with on the field. maybe they compliment each other well, and your muse doesn’t mind soo throwing ideas at them.

— in plain sight: maybe soo has hesitated during a mission, and your muse picked up on it. it depends on them what they would do with it!

— messed up together: the mission was a complete bust, and they are lucky they made it out alive, its either a reason to get closer, or they got more distant from one another. 

— mentor: esp when he first joined the agency, eunsoo was very lost. didn’t know what he got himself into, didn’t know what was expected of him, someone close that helped him on his way to become an agent would be great. eunsoo would trust them a lot, and look up to them a lot!

— car crash hearts: like i said, he is prone to crash when he lets things buble up, doesn’t sleep for a couple of days and has too much stuff on his mind. maybe your muse has witnessed him freaking out about something, or it was the first time you saw him so calm and upset, either way, it would be very interesting to see where it would lead!

— intimidated: perhaps your muse has showed their displeasure while eunsoo kept talking, or they are of high rank that he can’t help but feel intimidated with. it’s a tense relationship, but you can clearly see eunsoo trying to avert his eyes whenever ur in the same room.

— best friends: pls!!! soo is very affectionate, but doesn’t open up easily behind his cheerful façade. to have someone like this would be very interesting, soo has their back for sure!

— romance/exes/crushes: up to plotting! maybe exes who didnt work out, or maybe they slept together once, didn’t mean anything, or maybe it meant a lot but they can’t admit it to one another. i love pining, or something more established would be great as well! like i said before, soo is a handful & p affectionate, but he means well ;;

History:

Areum was born Han Areum on 29th March 1991

Born to Seo Youngjin and Han Kang Hwan. She was born a few days early, and surprised her parents by being a girl, so they didn’t have a name ready for her.

A nurse named her–because the newborn was such a pretty baby, and so, lacking sorely in ideas for a great name that would fit their kid, they named her Areum (creative i know lmao–sorry my brain LACKED that creativity)

Han Kang Hwan was a Korean diplomat, and Seo Youngjin was a retired agent from Hwarang. The two had a classic love life that started after a shoulder throw, and Areum was the catalyst that caused her parents to get married.

She has a younger brother who’s 1 year younger than her and they were very close.

On the year she was 16, the family was tracked down and killed in the dead of night– the assassin was an old enemy of her mother’s employed by on of the disgruntled rivals of her father, whom disagreed with Han Kang Hwan upon certain political reforms.

Areum’s brother had grabbed her and shoved her under the bed to protect her, and so she watched the man that killed her family stab her younger brother to death.

Areum was then stabbed severely in the stomach and shoved out of the second storey and onto the lawn below. She ended up almost bleeding out, suffered a severe concussion from where the man had knocked her head into the wall, followed by a broken right arm and a broken left leg. The house was then burned down and she was left to die on the lawn of the mansion.

Because of the incident, Areum has a bumpy scar on her stomach from where the scarred tissue from the stab remains. 

Had to go through physical therapy for a year to regain her muscle strength, another year was spent working on her stamina and muscles to make her up to par with the recruitment test.

She was too old for adoption, and so Areum chose to follow the Hwarang agents that had rescued her and applied for Hwarang as a recruit.

Entered as a recruit aged 18, Spent 4 years as a recruit, graduated aged 22 as a field agent, worked as a field agent for 2 years before specialising in the costumes department and working there from then on.

Areum is highly talented in art and music, and has been drawing since she was 5. 

Areum debuted as an artist (painting) when she was 11, selling her art pieces under the pseudonym Raye Licht. She thought of making her handle “A Ray of Light” at first, but found it far too much of a mouthful to say easily

 Areum still sells paintings under that pseudonym, and hence is rich enough to purchase a mansion + live comfortably and luxuriously for the rest of her life. But she wanted to continue her work in Hwarang. 

Can play the piano, violin, flute, and is also great at singing

Technically if she was born in the Joseon era, she’d be a perfect wife + perfect daughter to marry off from a noble family

Areum’s ideal type is someone who’s not afraid to express himself, and is a little aggressive in confessing his feelings, because she’s more passive as well.

Areum has a minimalist tattoo on the middle of her lower back of a lily, which she got right after being given her agent name.

Areum also usually uses money out of her own budget to pay for pple’s expenses, or the expenses inflicted by the costume production, just give her the right reason and she’d fund you (because she’s hella nice)

personality:

Areum is sweet, generous and kind, apart from being lovely. 

Was class president and popular in her school back when she had a normal family.

A little naive, and airheaded, gentle, and a soft talker.

When with friends she’s slightly childish, more naive and exuberant

Usually the mood bringer, hypes people up as well as brightens up the room

But alone Areum is silent and melancholic, reflective and understanding.

A lot of people don’t she the dual side of her, because she only shows her bright and happy side to others, because she feels that its her responsibility to liven up the atmosphere since they’re doing such emotionally heavy and taxing work.

Thinks everyone, even grouches are adorable and that each have their own worth.

Is socially anxious and a bit of an overthinker

Areum also doesn’t think that she’s pretty–in her mind, she believes that she’s just average,or less than average.

Areum is also physically affectionate with others, hugs are kind of her thing– she aims to make people feel welcome, so that they wouldn’t find it necessary to be interested to know more about herself.

Career History:

Because her mother was a retired Hwarang agent, she had an agreement with her old comrades that if anything happened to her and her husband, the children would be taken in, so Areum was taken in by Hwarang agents, but had to train herself up to the standards to a recruitment agent to pass.

Had to train really hard for the entire year that she recuperated and just barely made the cut for the team of recruits.

Entered recruitment at aged 18, her physicals were low, but Areum made up to the mark with her intelligence.

Areum holds an IQ of 143, is more of an observant person–and a practiced user of being able to put on a happy go lucky facade so that no one has a clue to what she really feels inside.

No one really knows about Areum’s background or heritage, except that she’s rich,  she paints, and that she’s hella good at costume disguise.

Graduated from recruitment at 22, and became a field agent, but unfortunately Areum was GREAT at disguising others, but not great at disguising herself. (Areum: hat, no lense glasses, fluffy sweaters, slippers)

After 2 years of field agent work, and more than one trip ups in disguises because Areum got recognised, Areum decided she was more cut out for costume specialisation rather than field work.

Areum became costume specialist at age 24, and has been working in that spot for 4 years.

Plot Ideas!!

[For her other costume specialist] You cannot believe the naivety of Areum thinking that she’s fine with disguising herself with just fluffy sweaters and a no lense glasses to not be recognised.

All physical, not emotional – Areum has needs just like everyone else, and you’re one of the special people who has seen the more solemn, contemplative side of her, which she doesn’t usually use outside of the bedroom or her own room [fwb connection ; 0/3 filled]

Classic Annoyance – You’re one of the colder friends of Areum. You can’t fathom why she’s so physically affectionate with people, but you’d comfortably say that you two are close with each other. [ friends ; 0/3 filled]

Walk my Dog – Areum has a habit of offering help to others even though she sucks at it, and with her small stature, its hilarious to see a 158cm tall tiny person trying to drag more than two large dogs away from their wayward tracks. You’re one of those individuals that take advantage of that and always ends up walking your dogs with her, because its just adorable watching Areum frazzle up over a bunch of too big dogs that she can’t control

You remind me of him – Areum’s connection and relationship with her younger brother has always been more than extraordinary, even in his death she feels somewhat connected to him. You are the one that reminds Areum of her deceased brother, and Areum does everything she can to protect you from what she perceives to be harm, even if sometimes its rather over the top. 

Why Are You Doing This To Me? – Being the overly romantic and sweet, naive person that Areum is, its no doubt to say that she’s been used and manipulated by people before. You’re the person that she has a crush on, and knowing that she has a crush on you, you’re intent on using her for your own needs. Its purely unemotional for you, but entirely emotional for Areum, and she just doesn’t know that you’re using her just yet. [ crush, fwb, angst angst heavy angst in the future]

Again? – One of Areum’s responsibilities is to patch up the costumes that have either been destroyed or ruined in the field work, and you’re one of the more reckless field agents/ recruits that always seem to mangle up your clothes to the point of nearly beyond repair. Its perplexing for Areum, and she’s up to the challenge to make a new piece that you can’t possibly rip, but you always seem to outdo yourself in ripping yourself a new piece of clothing. 

BACKSTORY

Yao doesn’t know his biological parents. Why they didn’t keep him, is anyone’s guess; he never had anyone who knew about what really happened, no family whatsoever to tell him anything about where he’d come from and why he’d end up somewhere so fucked up. 

He was raised by a man he always took for his grandfather. A compulsive drinker and gambler, a man who was always involved in some kind of trouble. His childhood wasn’t the brightest, that being so, he didn’t have the best education and they were always jumping around the country, running away from debt collectors and the law. Or trying to, at least. 

At this point, his life was nothing but a big lie. With them moving around so much came the need of fabricated stories and a lot of pretending to sustain them. Every month they were someone different and had a different background. Even though with time Yao got really good at the whole pretending thing, he also realized there was never room for a real him. 

When he was 16, however, things took an ugly turn. After a few years of successfuly dodging their pursuers, they came to a point where there was no running away anymore. His grandfather knowing this, gave Yao all the money they had left, a passport, a backpack and a name. It was the end of the line for him, but for Yao, it could be his chance of getting out of that life and maybe do something good with it. 

Yao ended up in Seoul, Korea, at the front door of a lady he’d never seen or heard anything of. She took him in as if he was her own son, however, as if she’d known him her whole life; she gave him a bed to sleep, food to eat, clean clothes and a place that quickly started to feel a lot like home. She became a mother to him. He finally got the chance to properly go to school and have a decent part-time job, to have friends; he finally had the chance to figure out things for himself, to figure out who he was. A fresh new start, just for him. 

Just a couple of years after, when he was about to turn 19, he was approached by Hwarang to join the organization, and he accepted because it seemed like a good turn of events, considering everything. (he doesn’t know it, but his mother was a former hwarang member. and also the lady who practically adopted him, and she knew his mother. so he received the offer probably just because of her. but will he ever know abou this. who knows.)

After joining the organization, he made it his life. He was very devoted to his training and did the most, you know, not to suck and lose the opportunity. At first he didn’t know how to feel about the whole idea, but nowadays he’s very passionate and committed to the job. 

Outside Hwarang he leads a pretty normal life, lives in a small apartment with his Irish Setter, her name is Eva and she’s the most precious and important thing to him (and to me). 

PERSONALITY

Yao is very eloquent, and although quiet in nature, he’s not shy. It takes a lot to get on his nerves and you better not get on his nerves, because it doesn’t get pretty when he’s angry. He doesn’t like confrontation or anything like that, but he doesn’t let people talk shit to him, if he needs to stand up for himself (or someone he knows and cares about) he will. 

He doesn’t trust people. It comes without a surprise, I’d say. He grew up around people that were always sidestepping certain subjects whenever he asked about, people who never told the truth, people who lied to get what they wanted, etc. Even though he knows there are good, true people out there, he just can’t fully trust. He’s very insecure about this, actually, that people are always hiding something, or pretending to like him for whatever reason; it never feels real. My poor insecure child.  

Speaking of hiding. Yao doesn’t talk about his past. He doesn’t talk about his life in general; that doesn’t apply just to co-workers or people he barely knows, it applies to friends too. And it also isn’t about him not wanting to talk about, it’s just that 1) he doesn’t often feel like he has anything interesting to share and 2) nobody asked, so he takes it as a hint that he probably shouldn’t tell.

Yao’s very observant and he pays attention to a lot. Even small details. He doesn’t tend to forget that easily, as well, so if somebody tells him their favorite ice cream flavor today, chances are he’ll remember even months later. Deep down, he makes the effort to remember because he likes to impress people with these little things. 

He’s a good shoulder to cry on, a good person to tell a secret to, to vent, a good person to tell all your embarrassing stuff, the best friend to call drunk at night, to share compromising stories/pictures, because he would never judge or spread anything about it. 

On that note, he hates gossip. Irrelevant, but throwing this info out there for whoever wants to know.

Also, Yao was born on January 10th, 1991. A whole Capricorn. And bisexual. 

WANTED CONNECTIONS

Gimme best friends. Wheter someone he’s known since training days or someone he met after graduating but became fast friends. OR BOTH. There’s always room for more than one best friend. 

I’d also love to have that unlikely friendship, where they’re so different in all aspects, but in some way ended up getting real close. Neither knows how it happened, but it’s not like they’re complaining. 

Someone that maybe isn’t actually a close friend, who he goes after to talk when he needs to get something out of his chest or just need the company until he feels better. Pretty vague, but basically someone that listens and understands without asking a lot of questions. Something like that. 

I would also love a flirtationship. 

A carnal relationship. It's just sex, it's always been just sex and it's always gonna be just sex. or will it 

Give me someone that actually gets on his nerves. Someone that seriously or just playfully enjoys irritating him, that likes to go against everything he says or anything of the sort. at this point i need this ajdhkeh i need this connection in my life. (it can also work for a friend. or enemies with benefits ~cof cof~anyone?~cofs~) 

An ex would also be nice. But I’m not gonna specify if they ended on good terms or bad terms, because that would be nice to develop depending on their personalities and dynamics, so if anyone’s interested, we can discuss it

— His father is the major shareholder and owner of a famous automobilistic company and his mother is a neurosurgeon. They were both really busy as he was growing up, Daehyun’s older brother was be the one watching him most of the time, going to school presentations and helping with homework. But it wasn’t like his parentes didn’t care about their kids, when they did get time off they’d make sure to make up for their absence.

— Daehyun has a degree in business, and works as the CEO of his father’s company. Despite what many of his co-workers and outsiders may think, he didn’t get a job in the company just because his dad owened it, he started as an intern and worked his way up there.

— Personality wise, he is optimistic and determined, independent and adventurous. The initiator and leader, not someone to be overlooked or to fade into the background. Extremely capable and energetic, action oriented and self motivated. Dae can be stubborn and has a bit of a temper but he's usally friendly.

— He enlisted on the military really early to get it out of the way – also becuse of a promise he had made with his best friend that they’d serve together – at 18. It was in the army that Dae first heard about Hwarang. Just a few months after being discharged he joined the organization. Daehyun was twenty at the time and trained as a recruit for a year before becoming a field agent. His Husky’s name is Moonie and this is how he looks like: x

Ideas for Wanted Connections:

— Recruits that started at the same time as Daehyun. Maybe someone that used to be close to him in the past but for some reason drifted apart now. Or someone that he still considers a close friend to this day.

— An ex that broke his heart, an now they have to work together on missions.

His biological parents were both chinese and lived in korea. They died when he was around 4 and he doesn’t remember. All he knows is that there was a fire and somehow he was the only survivor of it

He was put up for adoption so he lived in a home for kids that were also orphans for 3 years. Jaesun barely has any memories of it

Once he got adopted his name was changed to Kim Jaesun which is why he has a korean name despite being chinese. His birth name was actually Zhao Yang

Jaesun’s adoptive mother died when he was 6 when he accidentally distracted her while she was driving and they crashed. He somehow got out of it with nothing but a broken leg. His adoptive father blamed him for her death and so did Jaesun.

His father started to drink a lot after her death and eventually lost his job and would spend all day drinking and borrowing money from people or conning people so that he could get money to live

He would have given him up but his adoptive father did not want people to talk badly of him so everything bad he did was a secret and he was still thought to be a caring father who was grieving 

Jaesun spent most of his time anywhere other than at home, wanting to avoid his father. He too started to steal so he could survive and afford food, clothes and anything he needed since his father didn’t take care of him.

Nobody seemed to notice or care but since his mother died until he got away and joined the agency, Jaesun was always covered in bruises and cuts that his father caused

Once he finished high school he moved out but he didn’t have much money and was basically homeless for a few months

One day he got in trouble for stealing some money and instead of being arrested he was freed by an agent who recruited him 

He has always both felt like he isn’t worthy of love or affection and also been very cocky 

sees himself as not worthy of good things and thinks that nobody should stick around

everyone he has loved in the past has died or been so heartbroken because of him that they died inside so he’s terrified of love

very reckless because he doesn’t care about his well being

somehow makes a mess but manages to complete his missions 

Plots I’d like

Rivals. Someone he competes with. They always try to one up each other and be the better agent

Mentorship. For people who just started out and he can take it upon himself to teach them some things and be some sort of mentor figure but like in a non official way

Exes. He tried out dating but it didn’t work out. Probably because what they do is dangerous and everyone he loves dies so he would be too scared to lose her and would rather break up with her

Fuck buddies. They don’t even have to be friends

Ride or die. they would give anything to partner up in missions because they love being around each other and would have each other’s back no matter what

Enemies. they just can’t stand each other for whatever reason which would be up for plotting
