Homework #9
For this week's homework we talked about seven spoil sports of prediction. This is essentially a series of stages that keep us from being able to predict the evolution of a system over time.

2.)A breif description of these spoil sports and how I believe it would apply to my flying car project.
The Observer Effect is the disturbance of an observed system by the act of observation. A common example is checking the pressure in an automobile tire. Upon checking the tire pressure the first time would let out some of the air. Therefore the pressure being measured again would be different. This would apply to my project in the measurements of various parts. Like the wings or the doors. The measurements would change as things are being cut to fit in particular areas.
Quantum tunneling is the quantum mechanical phenomenon where a wavefunction can propagate through a potential barrier. The transmission through the barrier can be finite and depends exponentially on the barrier height and barrier width. The wavefunction may disappear on one side and reappear on the other side. The wavefunction and its first derivative are continuous. In steady-state, the probability flux in the forward direction is spatially uniform. No particle or wave is lost. Tunneling occurs with barriers of thickness around 1–3 nm and smaller. What comes to mind for this is the headlights. This could be used in some form to make a headlight that covers a surface more evenly and efficiently. Maybe even the interior lights as well.
The Butterfly Effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. Edward Norton Lorenz noted that it is derived from the metaphorical example of the details of a tornado (the exact time of formation, the exact path taken) being influenced by minor perturbations such as a distant butterfly flapping its wings several weeks earlier. I am not entirely sure as to how this would relate to my project. The flying car itself could be a part of the butterfly effect. It may even start its own. Leading to something far greater than what it could be.
The Care Horizon is the time value of money. this would be like taking $100 and putting $98.04 of it in the bank with an interest rate of 2%. Within a year you would have only 100 dollars. $1.86 would be what you get out of doing so. So years down the line $100 would be worth less than a penny. Again, I amnot truly sure as to how this would apply to my project. What comes to mind is the stock market value for this product. It could start out at a specific rate and be worth almost nothing at some point in its life span.
3.)Where would flying cars be in 5, 10, 20, etc. years? I believe that in 5 years flying cars would still be in the development stage. People just trying to get everything to line up just right. Having the desire to make like something out of a movie or like we have never seen before. Within 10 to 20 years there may be some testing going to make sure that there are no kinks in how it performs. But, it may also not function how the flying cars in movies and TV shows do. There would have to be a lot of markups to get it just right. I believe within 100 years the world will have the flying cars that operate and function just like we would image them to do so. The would be like something from the Jetson's cartoon or from any of the Back to the Future movies. It would definitely be at a time that I am no long around to see them.

5.) Intro: Hello everyone, my name is [insert name here] and I am going to talk about my project on flying cars.
Body: So, because I am not doing a traditional paper, I will talk about how I constructed my illustration and what I needed to do so.
First I needed to come up with a initial plan as to how I wanted everything to look. This would be working on different looks and even different mediums as well. I came up with a digital illustration because it seemed to be the most easeist to handle.
The image itself is of a town that is as futuristic as i could image and the vehicle is a flying car that is displayed in the foreground. The concept was most difficult because I was not sure what I want to use as my muses or models for creating this piece. I wanted to model the area after a real play so that It would be recognizable to some that have seen it [insert area here]. The vehicle is also modeled after a real vehicle as well [insert name here]. This is to appeal to the car nuts that see this and alway them to have a sense of familiarity when looking at this illustration.
