A sweet shot from Autodesk University of my HVX200a taken by our intern, Mac Blum.
I have a friend named Kate, who's family every year hosts an Oktoberfest celebration, with a huge burning stack of palettes they call "Burning Man". In 2009, I attended this event and shot a montage of the burning man. I had a few friends there and I asked them to dance in front of the fire. Right around that time I heard "Arcade Fire - Wake Up", and was inspired to create this montage. Of all the pieces of work I did in my college years, for some reason this is the one I enjoy the most.
Thanks for watching.
In 2008 when I first got my HVX200a, I went on a trip out to the Pacific Northwest. It truly was a beautiful place out there, and I literally filmed every minute I was there. I pretty much lived through the LCD of the camera, for which I am sure some photographers know what I mean, the feeling of missing the true moment because we live our lives through an eyepiece, somehow detached from the action before us.
Anyways, this video was part 2 in a 3 part series, the other two parts I have already posted on this blog. It was my favorite of the 3 because I remember editing it frame by frame on an old laptop in 2008, and luckily it ended up working okay.
Enjoy!
