that's why i hold this chopper two two three
Rap: May 2018
ALBUM OF THE MONTH
E-40 And B-Legit – Connected And Respected – A shining moment for B-Legit. E-40 plays a sidekick role of a goofy brother. Mature music that doesn’t sound old.
In the other news:
C-Dubb x S.B. – Mobb Bizniz 2 – Not a bad piece of street music. I can hardly add anything to it.
Camp Lo – Candy Land Xpress The Mixtape – It sounds harder than the title promises, no lollipop music.
Chief Keef – The GloFiles (Pt 1 and 2) – More audio diary entries than actual songs. It’s raw and uncooked. Sometimes one likes to take a peek at someone else’s diary, no harm in that.
DB Tha General – King of Oakland Vol 2 Heavy Lies the Crown – Everything that DB puts out are actually rants rather than songs. All his music is generic and hangs on his persona. It would’ve been an issue if he hadn’t had a persona. But he has.
Lil B – Platinum Flame – Self-parody on self-parody? You can’t take it seriously, you can’t take it unseriously. I can hardly imagine someone listens to it on repeat.
Philthy Rich – NERNL 4 – I’ve been angry at Philthy a lot, as he put too much wealth on a show in his songs. I wish he were broke. This album actually is better than usual Philthy BS music, since it is just a bit edgier and tougher than on previous albums. Again, too much guests, but at least for a minute he forgets about his (imaginable) wealth.
Playboi Carti – Die Lit – I can give two fucks about Carti’s new music.
Planet Asia – Mansa Musa – Unmemorable.
Pusha T – DAYTONA – Pusha’s always good. He never goes for lazy rhyming or generic metaphor. I’ve been playing it a lot. If only he didn’t succumb to the liberal intelligentsia fantasy about Trump-Russia connection.
Rich The Factor – CEO Of The Blacktop – Shit. That voice. No matter how generic it is, it’s GOOD.
SOB X RBE – Tutuland – I have yet to figure out what kind of a release is that and who the fuck is Lil Noonie. T.O. sounds here darker than usual.
Husalah – H – It’s dance music.
