Feel like shit wanna go back to Egypt 😞
Bust of Queen Meritamen (New Kingdom, 19th Dynasty, Rameses II (c. 279-1213 BC))
In the first weeks of August, I had the great fortune of travelling to Hurghada (Egypt), where I devoted one afternoon to visiting the Hurghada Museum. Though modest in scale, the museum is rich in treasures, each a fragment of the long narrative of Egyptian civilisation, from its earliest dawn to the present day. Amongst these relics, one piece of particular arrested my gaze: the bust of Queen Meritamen.
Meritamen, a daughter of Rameses II, ascended to the rank of Great Royal Wife following the death of her mother, the illustrious Nefertari. This statue bears witness to the consummate artistry of the ancient Egyptian sculptor: one sees it most vividly in the delicate braiding of her elaborate blue wig, and in the perfect symmetry and precision with which each bead of her wide collar is rendered.
Upon her brow rest two cobras. To the left, one wears the White Crown of Upper Egypt (hedjet); to the right, the other bears the Red Crown of Lower Egypt (deshret). Together, they embody Nekhbet and Wadjet, the divine protectresses of the Two Lands. Her wig adorned with a headdress whose base is formed of uraei, sacred serpents crowned with solar disks, emblems of the radiant power of the sun god: Ra (or Re). Once, two lofty feathers would have risen above this base, but the upper portion of the statue has sadly been lost to time.
In her left hand, Meritamen clasps a menat, a ritual necklace intimately bound to Hathor, goddess of love, fertility, and music. Fashioned of rows of beads with a counterpoise in the likeness of Hathor herself, it unites Meritamen with the divine attributes of that most venerated goddess. Though the back pillar of the statue no longer preserves her name, the titles inscribed there bear a striking resemblance to those on a colossal statue of hers at Akhmim, where she too is depicted wearing this majestic headdress.
لا أحد يمتلك حياة كاملـة ولا قلباً
خالياً ولا رأساً خفيفاً من الأعباء
ولكن هناك من يدعو الله ويبتسم
ويقول الحمدلله دائما وأبداً..

Hurghada, Egypt: Hurghada is a coastal city that serves as the largest city and capital of the Red Sea Governorate of Egypt. Hurghada has grown from a small fishing village to one of the largest resort destinations along the Red Sea coast, stretching close to 40 km. The city's name is derived from the Arabic name of the Nitraria plant. The English Hurghada comes from gharqad, a variant of the same name. The tree is mentioned in a hadith, where it is called the "tree of the Jews". Wikipedia
A view of the Red Sea hills from Hurghada, Egypt taken by me in late 2021-early 2022
The mountain range in the back is the Itbay or the Red Sea Hills on the left you'll find Jabal Shayib al Banat which is the second highest peak in Egypt after Saint Catherine and the highest in the Itbay
Shayib al Banat or "old man of the girls"
The old man part comes from the fact that the top of the mountain is white so it looks like an old man with white hair
the girls part comes from a girl named Selima or Salma (I've seen both in different sources) from the Beja tribe of the Ababda who fell off the mountain so they put al Banat
The itbay spans the Eastern Desert of Egypt and Sudan is mainly inhabited by the Beja and at the very north you'll find some Arab tribes like the Ma'aza who migrated to the region
