The library had become a place of peace and relaxation for Alys. It also gave her the opportunity to hide out while the remainder of the blue dye came off of her skin from her recent dip in the swimming pool. But today’s agenda was something different. Books of photography. Particularly those about Wales. She had missed her home greatly. The mountains. The sea. The plants and animals that were native to her homeland. She wanted to reminisce in those moments she had tucked away in her mind all while taking in the sights via several books she had already scoped out.
Pulling one from the shelf, a rather decent sized book; Alys found her way to a chair near the back corner of the large room. Privacy was something she valued, especially when she knew tears were likely to occur. And as she took a seat and opened up the large book filled with so many familiar places, she began to think of her home and the people who lived there.
Each page turned brought out a fresh memory. Some of laughter. Some of tears. But overall just what she had been longing for. If she couldn’t be there physically, she would travel there using her heart and her mind. But the further she got into the book, the more she lost track of time and the people coming and going in the library, until she finally looked up to find the sun was setting, “Is the sun setting already? Have I really been in here that long?” Running a fair, pale blue hand across her cheeks to quickly wipe away the tears, she followed it with closing the book and making a mental note of what page she was on for later.
