In case you didn't realize, 2014 started on a Wednesday, otherwise known as #HumpDay. Not to be left out, Geico climbed on the hashtag bandwagon with #HUMPDAY2014.
While the commercial was hilarious, Caleb (that's the camel's name) was getting on my last nerves for 2103 about halfway through Carson's NYE special. Never mind the fact that this hashtag was in all caps, which is a big no-no, but there was nothing native about this advertising. It was so blatant, it was distracting.
If you bothered to visit their website, you'll find that you can import/upload a picture, have Caleb photo bomb it and share it with your social networks. Which is great, except they didn't really explain that during the 123928309 commercials or underneath the takeover of the countdown clock. How many people actually used this photo generator? I mean I used it, so that's at least one...
I guess if it gets people talking it works, but I think the Geico team could have come up with something much better than this. I hope this isn't a glimpse into their social strategy for 2014.
