As a person with incredible species dysphoria, who would love to become non-human...
I am so, so tired of this take.
I feel like most people who say this are insecure in their otherkin/non-human identities. They're scared to admit there could be valid reasons one may want to be a human. They think that, if they admit to that, it would make them less otherkin.
And yes, in general fantasy and sci-fi, there is a humancentrism problem.
But guess what
The way to fight that problem isn't by posing "transformed person who wants to be human again" and "person forced to be human but really wants to become a creature" as enemies. It should be about solidarity.
The two are ideologically aligned. it's not a fight of "People who want to be something different from what they were born as" VS. "People who want to stay as what they were born as".
it's actually "People who want the right to choose their body" VS. those who want to restrict that right!
So let your inner creature out. I promise that you do not need to justify it by hating humans. Caring for humans does not have to make you any more human.
