I have been asked by the Consulate of Trade and Culture to clarify certain points in some of my previous reports. Specifically I have alluded to a war humanity had with an insectoid race as well as mentioning by name the war of extermination and Humanitarian Revolutionary War. The War of extermination was the war with an insectoid race I previously alluded to. It was occurring before and along side the Humanitarian Civil War, two wars happening in two separate star systems. These wars together are often referred to by humans as "The great Gemini Conflict." Gemini being a word who's etymology once again reaches back to the ancient human Nation of Greece, it is a pair of mythological twins. (Humans, as well as Rakashi give birth to singular offspring at a time in most cases, on a rare occasion two offspring are born at once these referred to as twins.)Â
For the sake of clarity and because this subject is considered important in regards to humanity's possible invitation to the council I shall Chronicle the events as best I have been able to investigate. I must make clear that these are largely the publically available order of events, and I have not yet had the time or resources to delve into any secretly held files to prove the veracity of these claims. Should such an investigation yield updated information I shall include it in a future report.
As to the events I have thus far pieced together we must begin sometime prior to the wars.
Humanity was a people largely divided by Ethnicity and Nationality when they began the colonization of their solar system. Over the course of several centuries the larger national governments began to merge into what would be called the Terran Union. This government did not include all peoples of humanity, but it DID include every nation with colonies on other planets and celestial bodies and essentially became the central Human Government. With the colonization of the Sol system complete humanity looked out towards nearby star systems and began to plan colonization missions to them. A nearby star system dubbed the "Lupin System" by humans presented a viable opportunity. According to information given to the public at the time, the system held five planets, none supporting any life, three were viable candidates for terraformation (the human word for planetary and atmospheric alterations) A massive fleet of military and colonial vessels were assembled and sent to this system to begin colonization. Â
Imagine the colonists surprise to learn one of these planets was home to an insectoid species twice the size of a human, image their further surprise when the military men already knew, and had prepared themselves to fight and destroy these insectoids. For nearly a decade this "war" raged, the collonists were easily convinced that these insects were not a sentient race, as humans seem to have a natural aversion to insects (good information for any future dealings with them). However military reports at the time definitely state otherwise citing organized structures, vehicles and even space worthy colonization vessels. The narrative given to the humans of the Sol system was vastly different from reality. They were told that one of the planets that had been detected turned out to be larger than originally believed, habitable, and home to a swarm of insects that devoured all in sight. This was in fact a lie, as would be discovered about a decade after this initial colonization effort.
Speaking of: a lone frigate made the journey back to Sol and brought with it indisputable proof that not only were these insectoids a sentient race who's home they were invading, but that the Terran Union had known all along and had been paid off by prospecting companies to eliminate them rather than attempt diplomatic negotiations, both the companies and the Union believed that they could leverage humanity's insect aversion to easily paint this race, now known as the Chitiir, as an unevolved barbaric horde of devourers, and carriers of sickness and disease.
The revealing of this information infuriated the Sol system, they had believed themselves beyond such childish things, they were IN the future their ancestors had only imagined, and they craved the chance to prove that they were not monsters.
For five years the humans opposed their government peacefully, but the Terran Union was not moved, still counting bribe money from the prospecting companies. At this point the human population began to unite and galvanize under a new title: Humanitarians, these humanitarians held the Ideological belief that all sentient life was equal to humanity and deserved all the same rights and privileges. Their peaceful protests having fallen on deaf ears they turned to violence. They armed themselves and attacked police and government buildings across Sol. Police and military forces were called in to retaliate, but a number of the military officers agreed with the Humanitarians and turned on the union giving the Humanitarians a legitimate fighting force, one that continued to grow as more and more of the union's corruption was laid bare before the people. Over the course of another five years the Humanitarian Revolutionary war raged in Sol, while the War of Extermination continued unchecked in Lupin. The Humanitarians finally won a decisive victory and the Union officials that remained, along with their corporate backers fled to Lupin where the people still supported them. Establishing a new government under new Ideals the Humanitarians officially dubbed themselves "The Humane Coalition"Â
In Hope's of Sparing the Chitiir from extinction the Coalition gathered the largest military fleet ever assembled together by humanity to this day. They Invaded Lupin and were almost too late, only one Chitiir queen remained. The Coalition claimed the planet Carish for their base of operations and sent a fleet to capture the Chitiir queen on Lagashi, they succeeded and offered the chitiir anything they could as an apology for th eir race's actions. Unfortunately the Chitiir were unable to make good on that offer before assassins hired by the union infiltrated the main HQ on Carish and assassinated the queen. Without a queen the Chitiir were doomed to extinction. The rest of this tale is largely mop up, the coalition launched a massive pincer attack and captured pretty much all the major players involved in leading the Union, as well as their corporate sponsors and made rather public executions for each of them. Afterwards many rules were changed for humanity and a whole new system of government was implemented the same government they operate under today. The humans detest Elitism and view the war of extermination as their greatest mistake, a black mark of shame that will forever mar them, the proof that were once monsters. Â
They want very badly to not be monsters.
