University of Toronto, Scarborough’s Humanities Wing

The eastern wing of the Andrews Building was constructed in 1964 by architect John Andrews as the first new structure for the freshly founded Scarborough College. The brutalist structure is designed with a long hallway running down the center surrounded by balconies designed to resemble a city street.

It is odd I can stand here comfortably

The ledge fits me and my book nice and snug

I fit right in the window crevice

Facing the window, I felt outside

I found this place in fall

Now it’s spring time

This window is the end of the hall

Yet I come here looking for what to do next

I can see past the buildings

The cars and constructions machines face me

It’s the department hall of

Historical and cultural studies

I usually come here

To think about class mobility

Looking back it,

Doing this here sounds fitting.

Today I am here contemplating

Whether to commit or create

They’re two good options

I just have to choose

and initiate

The Shape of Water (2017)

Woman meets a fish monster. Woman falls in love with fish monster. Woman plots against government to help fish monster escape captivity and torture. It is a tale as old as time.

Elisa and Giles live in apartments over a movie theater. The exterior of the theater is Massey Hall downtown while the interior is the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre a few blocks away.

Elisa gets off the bus at the research facility where she cleans located at the Science Wing of the University of Toronto Scarborough.

Giles takes Elisa to The Lakeview Restaurant to get pie and Giles makes eyes at the cute guy behind the counter.

The bus carrying Elisa to work drives down Eastport Drive in Hamilton.

Elisa and Zelda have lunch in the cafeteria located in the Humanities Wing.

Giles’ latest design is rejected by the design firm in Hamilton City Hall.

Dr. Hoffstetler returns home to the Suffolk Apartments where he finds some men waiting for him.

He then waits at the Lakeshore Sand Company to be picked up for his covert meeting with his handler.

Strickland drives his fancy new car down Lake Shore Boulevard East towards Cherry.
