Although Samsung and Apple seem to make bigger splashes when they release new smartphones, this doesn’t mean that the phones released by other companies – like HTC – should be ignored. Having said that, HTC has actually just released a brand new smartphone – the Droid DNA.

The Droid DNA is available exclusively on the Verizon network, so AT&T and Sprint customers need not think about this phone too much unless they are considering changing networks. Although this phone may not have the star power to drive massive amounts of people to Verizon, it seems likely that there will be some who move to Verizon to get a shot at being able to own and use this phone.

One of the reasons why is because it is being touted by HTC as the ultimate smartphone. According to the company, the HTC Droid DNA is the first smartphone to include a true 1080p HD super LCD 3 display with Gorilla Glass 2. Thanks to its 440 pixels per inch, the 5-inch device boasts a beautiful display.

Jason Mackenzie – president of HTC – said this about the phone:

“The Droid DNA by HTC embodies a smartphone that pushes the envelope in all of these areas with the first true 1080p HD display, latest quad-core processor, and Verizon’s 4G LTE network, all wrapped in a beautifully crafted design.”

Certainly HTC appears to be hoping that this phone gets some play from potential customers during the Christmas season. The phone is not quite available for purchase, but will be on November 21. Customers can buy the phone for $199 with a two-year contract with Verizon.

The phone runs on Android’s newest operating system – Jelly Bean 4.1 – meaning that it operates at an extremely high level of functionality and at the optimum speed for an Android phone.
