you know I don't know if I ever posted this to my socials. I certainly can't find it anywhere... Here is a really old Horrortale illustration from 2019! I think this was the first full illustration I completed on my iPad! Something atmospheric and dramatic between Crooks and my insert Ribbon...

As much as Papy (Horrortale Papyrus) would want to respect his s/o’s right to make an informed decision about him…and his brother…a lot hinges on a certain version of how monsterkind handled the aftermath of the Famine being the only version in circulation.

Día de los Muertos, and by extension Halloween, might become Crooks favorite holiday. It is the one time of the year most people embrace his creepy nature. He also enjoys all the candy everywhere and dressing up in costumes for fun with his friends. Its like all his favorite things at once. When you show him sugar skulls for the first time he's absolutely delighted! It's him! But candy! How amazing a holiday it must be to show skeletons in such a pretty way! When you offer to paint the design onto him, to include him in the celebration, he almost combusts in happiness. The hardest part will be getting him to sit still long enough to paint the full design. He keeps looking in the mirror to see the progress and fidgeting in excitement. When the design is completed, he almost ruins it immediately by crying. Crooks feels so pretty and festive. It's so rare for him to feel good about his appearance in recent years. After his initial gushing about the paint job, he'll absolutely attack your face with skelle-kisses till you make him stop.

Blues’ favorite nickname you've given him is sugar skull. So, when you tell him it's actually a candy and a part of a holiday, he's absolutely on board. He already liked the idea of Halloween, but a holiday about remembering lost loved ones with a skeleton motif? It might be his new favorite holiday!
He might beat you to the punch on asking for a makeover. He'd love the looks on little kids' faces when they see him coming. Not fear, like they sometimes were, but pure excitement at his prettily painted skill. He'll also use it as an excuse to have you give him affection. “DON'T YOU WANT A TASTE?” “I'M AS SWEET AS I LOOK!” “WANNA SEE IF MY MOUTH IS SUGAR TOO?”
Its as close to puns as he'll let himself get, but if it means flirting with you, and maybe getting a kiss, he's willing to make that sacrifice.
