The more time passes, the more I do believe that Caelus/Stelle are their canon names. Both in current day, and the past.

Mostly because we havent gotten much indication of anything else.

It’s ofc, still possible. Especially with the emphasis on names for both the Stellaron Hunters and AE Crew.

Every time TB has gotten past memories recovered, they’ve been.. messy, in some way. Their erased former name being replaced with their current chosen name, would make sense.

And everytime we’ve gotten a non-biased memory - fladhbacks from the Hunters or out of game media, they’ve never referred to the TB by any name at all.

So it certainly remains possible. Caelus/Stelle is 100% their current canon names, but like, we really dont have any confirmation to that being their former canon names.

I would argue, however, that it wouldnt actually be Silver Wolf who would slip up and call them their former name.

Silver Wolf, as close as she is to TB, she is undeniably one of their 2 best friends after all, has known them the smallest stretch of time out of all of the Hunters.

She is attached, yes. Deeply so. Trailblazer is incredibly important to her. But their former name wouldnt have been burned as deep into her mind.

Ntm, Silver Wolf i’d say, is probably the Hunter who would most easily adapt to a name change.

It’s basically just changing your gamertag, after all. She’d adjust pretty easily. Ntm, she does technically have the most experience in using it considering her refusal to not keep showing up fucking everywhere to play games with them.

Blade would also adjust pretty easily. Both bc of his messed up memory and mind bc of the mara and shuhu and whatnot.. but also he also understands the weight of a name change.

Ngl he probably avoided saying TB’s name entirely until the new one settled in his mind so he wouldnt slip up.

Blade’s whole deal with TB’s change in identity withojt actually changing is smth ive yapped about in the past iirc. Probably. Somewhere at some point lol.

It’s Firefly & Kafka, who would be most likely to slip up, imo.

They both would’ve known them as their former name for a very significant amount of time.

Moreso Kafka, than Firefly.

Because again, Firefly understands the weight of a chosen name. Her name - which is possibly one she chose influenced by TB and/or Kafka - is one she herself chose, one to mark a new life.

Kafka is, as far as we know, the only Hunter whose name we dont know was one explicitly chosen by themself, or one to replace a former name.

Kafka is also the one whose known Trailblazer the longest.

And also interacts with Trailblazer the least.

Theres also a certain level of narrative weight that would be found in Kafka being the one to refer to Trailblazer by their former name.

Although i find it funny if Silver Wolf were to slip up and start cursing out TB for winning a game or smth and she ends up using the wrong name.

That scene is almost certainly a glimpse into the future.

I passed over it the first time, but that sword of Bladie’s there in the dirt? It’s infact MBlade’s sword specifically, meaning this occurs following Planarcadia’s events.

Kafka’s spirit whisper failing when the strings get ‘cut’ by her death would make thematic sense. Especially with the similarities between her and Aglaea.

Hell, Aglaea herself did die by getting stabbed. Though, it was in the back, not through the front as it is here.

If Trailblazer’s memories get returned with Kafka’s death, that would GENUINELY break me. And also probably Trailblazer.

One thing to note however: the method used to induce Trailblazer’s memory is still not fully clear. It’s heavily implied to have been spirit whisper (which will forever be tragic), however, it is also implied that Silver Wolf’s Aether Editing had some part to play. Theoretically also some secret third thing as well, but id say that ones less implied.

But like, honestly i dont think its really a strike against the concept of TB getting their memories back here.

Cause judging off Firefly’s hairclip and Silver Wolf’s glasses on the ground, Blade’s new sword being stuck in the dirt, and Firefly’s sword being stuck in Kafka’s chest?

I dont think it’s just Kafka at risk here…

And I do think that makes it worse, if TB were to get memories back here tbh. Because not only is Kafka (their oldest companion) likely dead in their arms at their hand.. but seemingly its not just Kafka whose dead here… but the rest of their family too. Or at least, clearly not in the best condition.

I do want to bring up two new ideas with this scene though. That theoretically can still work with each other too.

First of all - who exactly said that this is our Trailblazer’s future?

Whose to say that this isnt a possible moment - one that aligns with Altblazer’s path, rather than the Trailblazer?

Hell, one could argue that the loss of the faction actively fighting the Finality, is what could turn Trailblazer to it as Altblazer has.

Ntm, honestly again, the concept of regaining lost memories through losing the people those memories were about is legitimately devastating. Trailblazer is someone able the weather most trauma with a brave face but the duality of those two things? Yeah that sounds like something that could break them…

Second of all - to be honest? We dont actually have proof that Trailblazer is the one who put that sword in her.

Lets look closer at this scene. Kafka isnt in anyway supporting herself. She’s completely slack already. Judging from the fact she’s looking at Trailblazer, she doesnt seem to be unconscious or dead yet though.

(God awful quality rip) But no, it’s Trailblazer who’s keeping her from falling fully to the ground. They’re literally cradling her head here </3

And then look at how they’re holding the sword! Who the hell holds a sword like that?! Trailblazing knows how to hold a goddamn sword! It wouldnt make sense to hold it like that if they stabbed her.

It WOULD make sense to both hold her like that, and hold the sword like that if they were trying to pull it out, however.

Hoyoverse really likes their red herrings. I could see them pulling something like that - making us think Trailblazer stabbed her, while the truth is TB is actually trying to save her life here.

The fact its Firefly’s sword, with discarded Hunter items? Doesn’t disprove the idea either.

Arguably, all 5 Hunters, are all at huge risk of going fucking berserk.

Not Bladie anymore because he locked tf in, and not really Wolfie bc that Cartridge is on lockdown and i doubt we’ll get to see it much in 5.x. And I sincerely doubt Trailblazer is going to be anything but careful with the Stellaron after 4.4.

But Firefly & Kafka both? They’re still at reasonable risk for it in my opinion.

Honestly, i really do stick to the idea that whatever is happening here is related to corruption of some variety. TB with Nihility, Kafka going Devil (akin to that one Knight of Beauty in Argenti’s 4th character story even..) or possibly Firefly with Propagation.

Considering TB is locked in right now, i do see less Nihility corruption likely though.

Either its a mercy kill for Corrupted Kafka by TB, or its TB trying to save Kafka’s life.

Or maybe its never gonna actually happen in game to our Trailblazer!

Regardless, them getting memories back from this - honestly i’d argue its the most logical way for them to do it.

Actually hell, maybe they could do it akin to 3.4! Where the majority of the mq was literally Trailblazer going through Phainon’s memories of the previous cycles! Except this time its Trailblazer going through their memories with the Stellaron Hunters!
