Lewis Blunt is the most unlucky person in New York City and is down on his luck. He has few friends who barely understand him, and his family doesn't respect him at all. One day, he encounters a Necronomicon while working in the library. With nothing to lose, Lewis conducts a ritual and summons a short goat-like demon by the name of Richard, who tells him how he's gonna help him achieve his heart's desire. This deal seems like a golden opportunity for Lewis, but it does have its downsides. It turns out Richard left out one detail about a simple catch: another dark soul inhabiting Lewis' body without his knowledge. The soul's name is John Allgood, who dresses up as a Gentleman and glides through the night sky with his lucky umbrella. John is also not a nice guy and has no empathy for the people he's burned. Throughout his journey, Lewis has to deal with John's antics as both a rock star and a vigilante while also facing foes who want to tear New York in two.
