• In relation to fashion

The well known People’s Park Complex is still a popular location even till this day, where people of all ages visit for various reasons. It could be seen as a second home for certain people, a place where some could meet their shopping needs or even as an ideal location for fashion photography.

It is amazing how something built so far back in time gets to blend together with the modern lifestyle. Apart from that, the "city room" in the podium block had also been adapted from the ideas of the Metabolism movement in Japan. This proves that inspirations are not just from the country but from all across the globe.

In which, it is just like fashion. Designers draw inspirations from everything, and architecture also contributes to large part of the industry. From the folds, constructions, colours, spaces and even to the interior designs. Examples are Phillip Lim, Maison Kitsuné, and Chloé.

Surely, as each new generation view it in a different light. It has always kept it’s historical value and influence in our society. Personally, i see the worn out walls and paints as a reflection on how our country has progressed from when it was first built.

Issey Miyake x Kazumasa Nagai

• Designer perpective

Issey Miyake and Kazumasa Naga collaboration is a good example of how they incorporated their differences to create something out of their comfort zones, in which the allowing the world of fashion and graphic design to combine into something really creative and amazing.  

It is obvious that both designers had different style as they are specialised in different things. Miyake is a fashion designer and Nagai is a Japanese printmaker and graphic designer. The incorporation of graphic prints on a garment is quirky because the motif was based on the five animals featured in the poster ‘life’, painted by Nagai in 1993.

As Issey Miyake tried to play with the motifs using negative and positive spaces, lines and fabric. The bold figurines and vibrant colors creates playful element to the garment. Also when worn, the movement of the fabric make as if the animals are moving hence, an element of life is given just like the poster title “life”.

Collaborations are important, it allows different personalities to come together and create. It is strongly relatable in the working world in every faculty. Being a team player, compromising to ideas and views from various individuals to break new boundaries together.
