A few mornings ago cloud topping the lovely green Howgills. The pools in front of the photo are potholes in the viewpoint carpark following heavy overnight rain.

Hiking in the Howgills today. Better weather than when I was here at Easter so I got to enjoy the views all day instead of just now and then.
We took a detour to see a waterfall and it was totes worth it.

Thursday. Last day. What a glorious morning to wake up to! The overnight rain had cleared the air and the views were magnificent going up the Howgills at the start. (and there was indeed much up). This is the longest day, about 25 miles/40km. I'm a bit scared of it, but I figure if I can get over the huge hills at the start, the rest is just "the walk out" for all that's still about 15 miles.
I think that second shot was meant to show the M6, but I'm not sure, there was gusting easterly winds and so I had gloves on and phone camera activation was being a bit tricky.
Bottom left is my descent - all along the back of that long curving slug... Beautiful. Easy navigation and the views were great. Plus it warmed up as I went down, as things tend to do around big hills. Then there's a gap of about 4 hours of MMBU. I was tired and it was long and blargh. But I got through it.
The last pic is a moment of joy. Coming over the last little bump, not even a hill really, the Eden Valley opens out before you. Down there is my train station. To be fair, it's still 10km and over 2 hours away, but it's there. The end is in sight. And the Hill Fairies sent me a white pony to rejoice with me :-)
